Job Description:
- The Quality Engineer Manager will provide lead Program Quality Engineering support to the GMD Weapons System (GWS) Program in Brevard County, Florida. This person will manage a quality assurance team consisting of Quality Engineerings and Quality Inspection Technicians and will mentor/train junior Quality Engineering staff. The Quality Engineer Manager will be able to thrive in a fast-moving environment under tight schedules and coordinate multiple tasks effectively. This person will also ensure that customer quality-imposed technical requirements are adhered to by suppliers and that a quality system is maintained
Essential Functions:
- Coordinate with cross-functional team to mitigate and resolve design, production, and depot sustainment problems.
- Participate in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement activities including identifying, initiating and leading lean improvement projects to improve efficiency, quality and/or safety and reduce cycle time and cost, create value stream maps, utilize lean tools and concepts to help transform the manufacturing and test environment and culture.
- Applies extensive technical knowledge in industry standard quality engineering methods, interpretation of drawing requirements and applicable specifications & standards, and mechanical measurement & analysis
- Lead Quality Engineering support for internal and external AS9100 audits
- Plans and establishes operational objectives for team members
- Provide monthly quality metrics to program and Quality leadership
- Support bid and proposal activities as needed

- Periodic travel may be required (up to 20%)
- Must possess or have the ability to obtain a U.S. DoD Secret Clearance or higher
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and minimum 10 years of prior relevant experience or a Graduate degree and a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
- Must possess or have the ability to obtain a U.S. DoD Secret Clearance or higher. No dual citizenship.
- Extensive knowledge of quality engineering, including supplier quality and program quality.
- Experience in initiating and implementing Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing activities
- Knowledge and experience in working with various government and professional standards, including Military Standards (MIL-STD), Aerospace Standards (AS), and International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Standards
Preferred Additional Skills:
- 20+ years experience with a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or other engineering field.
- Experience with SATCOM communication systems and programs
- Must be able to perform technical problem-solving and work closely with production personnel.
- AS9100 CQE or AS9100 Lead Auditor certifiation, training or experience
- Proficient in 8D (RCCA) analysis process
