Job Description:

The Operations Manager in the Strategic Mission Division at L3Harris will oversee and manage the division's Manufacturing Technician team, ensuring efficient and effective execution of strategies and objectives. This position will be responsible for leading daily operational efforts across programs by coordinating the execution of work throughout the shared service work areas consisting of circuit cards, cables, microelectronics, and top-level assemblies. The role requires a dynamic leader who can collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive process improvements, ensure quality standards, and meet customer delivery requirements. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.

 

Essential Functions:

·       Lead and manage the team to achieve program production targets within budget and on schedule.

·       Develop and implement operational strategies aligned with the company and program strategic goals.

·       Oversee the production process, identifying opportunities for improvement in efficiency and output.

·       Ensure compliance with industry regulations and organizational policies, including ITAR, EAR, and CUI guidelines.

·       Collaborate with other departments, such as Engineering, Quality Assurance, Supply Chain, and Program Management, to optimize overall performance.

·       Manage resource allocation, including equipment and personnel, to maximize productivity.

·       Monitor and report on operational performance metrics, providing insights and recommendations to senior management.

·       Drive continuous improvement initiatives and lean manufacturing principles throughout the division.

·       Foster a culture of safety, quality, and operational excellence.

·       Provide leadership, mentorship, and development opportunities to the operations team.

·       Generate and administer annual performance reviews.

·       Accountable for managing labs and supporting lab custodians as well as supporting audits and providing effective RCCA.

Qualifications:

·       Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years prior related experience. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.

·       Ability to acquire and maintain TS SCI security clearance. 

Preferred Additional Skills:

·       Active TS/SCI Clearance.

·       Experience in Supervisory or Management in a manufacturing facility that produces space or avionic high-tech hardware.

·       Strong understanding of operational processes and industry best practices.

·       Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team.

·       Knowledge of regulatory compliance pertaining to ITAR, EAR, and CUI.

·       Exceptional problem-solving abilities and analytical skills.

·       Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

·       Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Engineering, or a related field.

·       Proficient in project management and proficient with ERP systems.

·       Exposure to Earned Value Management process and Variance Reporting.

·       Experience with process improvement tools including Lean, Six Sigma, 5S or Kaizen.

·       Experience with precision mechanical measurement and assembly tools.

·       Experience with electro-mechanical, Microelectronics, cables, SMT manufacturing.
