Job Description:
As a Maritime Systems Engineer for Intel & Cyber, you will lead and contribute to the development of leading-edge technologies that deliver mission-critical solutions for our customers. In this role, you will perform system architecture design and trades, technical planning, concept of operations definition, requirements elicitation and derivation, and analyses throughout the system development lifecycle. In addition, you will provide technical leadership and management over the system development, integration, and test of unmanned underwater vehicles (UUV) or remotely operated vehicle (ROV) systems and payloads.

 

Essential Functions:
The primary responsibilities of the role include the following:

  • Performing systems analysis and design activities for UUV systems
  • Leading the development and/or deployment of UUVs and other maritime domain systems
  • Leading UUV payload development and integration activities including periods of offshore activities
  • Authoring Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL) documentation such as System Engineering Management Plan (SEMP), System Requirements Specification (SRS), Interface Control Document (ICD)
  • Leading the technical planning, design, cost and risk, supportability, and delivery of total UUV systems
  • Conducting functional analysis, software subsystem decomposition, timeline analysis, detailed trade studies, requirements allocation, and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications
  • Leading Engineering Change Review Board (CCB) addressing design changes throughout the lifecycle development
  • Creating system requirements and deriving sub-system and component level specifications
  • Developing electronic hardware and software architectures and designs based on system-level requirements
  • Supporting full system development lifecycle including concept, design, fabrication, production, test, installation, operations, maintenance, and disposal and presenting at System Level Design Reviews such as SRR, PDR, CDR, and TRR
  • Interacting with senior program managers and customers to define approaches and strategies
  • Leading trade studies to identify solutions that meet requirements
  • Providing guidance to development teams and subcontractors at internal and external gate reviews such as technical baseline reviews and design reviews
  • Ensuring the logical and systemic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions which meet technical, schedule, and cost constraints
  • Obtaining and maintaining any additional clearances as required

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Ocean Engineering, or other related engineering discipline and a minimum of 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree in Systems Engineering and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 13 years of direct prior related experience
  • 7 years experience directly related to UUV, ROV, or AUVs design and/or development
  • Requires a minimum of 5 years System Development Lifecycle (SDLC) experience executing in a development environment
  • Must possess an active Top Secret security clearance

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Previous military experience related to the use and operations of UUV, ROV’s such as
    • US Navy:  Navy Diver (ND), Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Technician, Sonar Technician (STG) 
    • US Coast Guard: Maritime Enforcement Specialist (ME)
    • US Army: Engineer Diver (12D)
  • Systems integration of subsystems and multi-segment systems
  • Experience with offshore testing and deployment of UUVs and/or ROVs
  • Experience with maritime navigation systems deployed with UUVs and ROVs
  • Experience with maritime communications systems
  • Experience with remote sensing systems
  • Experience with HV maritime power systems
  • Knowledge and/or experience in Ocean Engineering
  • Experience in the use of Model-Based Systems Engineering
