Job Description:
L3Harris is looking for an experienced Systems Administrator to join the Engineering team in Palm Bay, FL to support the implementation, operation, maintenance, and optimization of enterprise and program information systems. The ideal candidate will have experience with Linux and Windows systems administration and be comfortable configuring, monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting systems in both physical and virtual environments.
The Systems Administrator will be expected to troubleshoot complex technical issues, manage system configurations, implement security controls, support patching and upgrades, maintain documentation, and help ensure systems operate in compliance with organizational and customer requirements. This position requires strong technical expertise, sound judgment, and the ability to balance operational continuity with security and performance objectives.
The responsibilities below highlight the essential functions of the position; the selected candidate is expected to have experience in multiple areas with the ability to learn the others and grow as needed.
Essential Functions:
- Configure, monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot Linux and Windows systems in both physical and virtual environments.
- Configure and maintain Virtual Machines (VMs).
- Install, configure, patch, and upgrade operating systems, server applications, and infrastructure components.
- Deploy and manage infrastructure through automation using scripting languages such as Bash, Python, and Perl, as well as tools such as Kickstart, Podman, Ansible, and Puppet.
- Support RMF and cybersecurity activities in partnership with Cyber Engineering, including BOE development, implementation and maintenance of security controls, and system hardening in compliance with DoD, NIST, STIG, and Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA) requirements.
- Use software development lifecycle and DevSecOps tools such as Jenkins, Jira, and Bitbucket to support build, integration, tracking, and configuration management activities.
- Deploy, manage, and troubleshoot containers and containerized services using technologies such as Docker and Podman.
- Apply network administration and troubleshooting skills using core networking concepts and protocols such as DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, routing, switching, and HTTP.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 8 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 6 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 12 years of prior related experience.
- Must possess an active clearance: TS/SCI w/FS Poly.
- Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level 2 certification (e.g. Security +) within 3 months of start.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Current Certifications such as:
- RedHat Certification (RHCSA or RHCE)
- CompTIA Linux+
- Previous experience supporting DoW & Government customers
- Experience with cloud platforms and administration in AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud environments.
