Job Description:

 

L3Harris is seeking an experienced General Ledger Accountant to join the Space and Mission Systems Segment Accounting organization. This team supports multiple business units across the United States by providing general ledger and financial reporting services. Partnership, accuracy, and timely execution are core values of the organization. In this role, the General Ledger Accountant will contribute to recording, analyzing, and reconciling accounting transactions across assigned businesses.

 

Essential Functions:

 

• Partner with the accounting team to ensure efficient, accurate, and compliant accounting processes
• Prepare complex journal entries and general ledger account reconciliations
• Analyze data, researches issues, and recommends corrective actions
• Review transactions to ensure appropriate accounting treatment
• Communicate with business partners regarding processes, issue resolution, and problem solving
• Coordinate month end close activities to ensure reporting deadlines are met
• Finalize financial results and supplemental disclosures, including updates in consolidation software
• Support internal and external audits, as well as internal control testing
• Generate reports from the ERP system
• Lead special projects, complete special assignments, and provide guidance, coaching, and training to other employees

 

Qualifications:

 

• Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 9 years of prior relevant experience; Or, Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience; Or, in lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

 

• Comprehensive knowledge of GAAP and Sarbanes Oxley requirements
• Experience working in a complex ERP environment
• Experience preparing and reviewing journal entries and account reconciliations
• Public accounting or auditing experience
• Knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS)
• CPA certification or active CPA candidate
• Demonstrated leadership experience, including leading projects or initiatives
