Job Description:
L3Harris Corporation is seeking an Engineering Fellow to support open standards, next-gen embedded processors architectures within military avionics equipment, including mission multipurpose processors and critical avionics sub-systems. Essential Functions:
- Act as a technical subject matter expert to develop and deliver advanced scalable, open standards processing technologies to government and industry standards.
- Support and assist L3Harris with the integration of the developed software and services into hardware in support of demonstrations and field tests.
- Applies an inter-disciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, design, develop, and verify a balanced lifecycle of system and system-of-systems solutions
- Evaluates customer operational needs to define and coordinate system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters, and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces
- Drives enterprise solution offerings and future technology relevance to L3Harris customers
- Leads and coordinates various (e.g., performance, cost, maintainability, obsolescence) analyses to optimize total system of systems and/or system architecture
- Executes technical responsibilities within project cost and schedule constraints
- Provides technical coordination between customer, industry (peers, suppliers), and internal engineering taskforce to handle technical issues
- Prepares and presents “deep dive” technical information that addresses specific areas of interest
- Leads a multi-discipline engineering group to ensure contractual requirements are met
- Advocates customer’s critical needs (current and future) to L3Harris internal stakeholders
- Analyzes and develops recommendations to resolve potential contractual technical issues at product delivery
- Establishes, implements, and documents the technology integration or migration strategies
- Has the ability to multi-task and work across a variety of programs
- Ensures adequate product definition and documentation, coordinate closely with execution teams to ensure proper implementation and adherence to functional and performance specifications
- Provides technical direction for the development, integration, and testing of complex hardware/software systems in space, aerial, maritime, and terrestrial domains
- Leads and conducts trade studies required to make both tactical and strategic technical decisions for programs, and to define L3Harris technology roadmaps
- Leads or participates in technical interchange meetings (TIMs) to manage project execution and resolve enterprise issues
- Provides mentoring, guidance and leadership to junior engineers
- Ability to obtain a US Security Clearance
Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree or Doctorate degree from an accredited university in engineering, computer science, mathematics, or physics
Preferred Additional Skills:
- 20+ years of relevant experience creating and implementing system architectures and complex mission solutions
- Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver cutting edge avionics processing solutions across heterogenous, dynamic environments at scale, including open standards and secure processing.
- Demonstrated ability to partner with stakeholders and team leaders to identify needs and develop marketable system solutions with clear customer value
- Effective communications skills, interpersonal skills and customer focus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Leadership and experience collaborating in large, dynamic team environments
- Previous experience developing products for DoD / government customers
