Job Description:

 

The Space Systems Sector within the Space and Mission Systems (SMS) segment is seeking a Director of Program Management (PM).  The Director, PM serves as a key member of the Sector leadership team partnering closely with the Sector president to implement and drive key organizational initiatives. The Director, PM is also responsible for leading the strategy and execution of the Program Excellence Function within the Space Systems Sector. The successful candidate should be an experienced Program Manager who is well-versed in People, Process, and Tools best practices within the Aerospace & Defense industry. 

The Director, PM, will lead the Program Excellence (PMX) team and collaborate closely with functional partners and the Division program teams. The Director, PM will implement numerous Repeatable Program Excellence (RPX) improvement projects, provide innovative solutions that enable the business, and serve as the single point of contact for functional program management issues for the Sector. This role reports directly to the President, Space Systems and Segment Vice President, PMX.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

• Support other Sector and enterprise initiatives such as MissionOne
• Lead sector business initiatives as directed by the sector president
• Lead and develop a team of PMX professionals, schedulers, and planners to deliver exceptional service in support of the business
• Support sector business issues, direct the evaluation of root cause analysis, systemic corrective actions, and process control monitoring
• Implement preventive corrective action or mitigation programs as well as incorporate lessons learned into future plans
• Identify and monitor key program metrics, maintain scorecard database, generate scorecard metrics, and communicate trends
• Coordinate Independent Review Team (IRT) activity including setting IRT expectations, making IRT assignments, ensuring program action items are closed, and certifying gate reviews
• Support the development of tools and resources to standardize the management of programmatic and financial forecasts
• Partners with business leaders to develop specific courses of action in program execution that yield predictable results and profitable return on investment
• Engage with Business Development in driving long-term business strategy
• Ability to obtain US Government security clearance

 

Qualifications:

 

• Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 15 years of prior related experience; Or, Graduate Degree with a minimum of 13 years of prior related experience; Or, in lieu of a degree, minimum of 19 years of prior related experience

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

 

• Prior program management, proposal management, and EVMS experience
• Prior experience leading and influencing through cross-functional teams
• Experience presenting to all levels of leadership
• Ability to develop and lead a best-in-class PMX team including setting the strategic direction through building talent capabilities and retaining a pipeline of top talent
• Knowledge of space and satellite technology or sensors and optical imaging
• Experience planning, organizing, and directing work across multiple disciplines that provides best value solutions to the customer and business
• Knowledge Earned Value Management (EVMS) and standard program reporting metrics
• Understanding of the Department of Defense, Air Force, Space Force, and Intelligence Communities
• Experience implementing strategies to influence external stakeholders for business advantage
• Ability to develop broad, cooperative relationships with numerous stakeholders and influence without direct authority
