Job Description: 

The EMSC Configuration Management Specialist is a Engineering Services support role that performs Configuration Management (CM) functions to establish consistency of product performance, functional, and physical attributes with its requirements, design, and operational information. The primary goal of this role is to maintain the integrity of system documentation, drawings, design artifacts, baselines, records, and associated configuration information using established configuration processes and controls. This role provides additional as-required support to various engineering and program management teams as a subject matter expert for analyses, consultations, special topic discussions, tools support, DevOps support, and other tasking as required. The role resides within the Engineering Materials Support Center (EMSC). The EMSC Supports all users releasing new parts and updating existing Library/Cots parts into the PLM tool and all locations across L3 Harris.

Essential Functions:

  • Implements established configuration management documentation, processes, and principles in an Agile development environment
  • Administers existing configuration management toolsets, to include Agile Product Data Management, Rational ClearQuest, Windchill, and/or JIRA
  • Facilitates the Configuration Change Board (CCB) process by analyzing proposed product design changes for accuracy, completeness, and to determine the effect on the overall system
  • Organizes reviews and authorizes the release of drawings and documentation specified by Program or Engineering Management
  • Provides advice and guidance on configuration management methods, tools, procedures, and requirements to project team members responsible for the creation of drawings and documentation
  • Plan for and implement continuous improvement projects
  • Acts as liaison between management and other functional groups to resolve issues regarding configuration processes and records

Qualifications: 

  • Requires highly developed job knowledge/skills. Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.

Preferred Additional Skills: 

  • Ability to learn new tools and use them, including the Agile Configuration Management Tool and basic office software.
  • Ability to Research manufacturing data verifying part number details and Create part numbers within the data management tool following strict engineering formatting. 
  • Understand the parts, parts list and drawing revision process.
  • Understand and structure of indented bills of material. 
  • Strong attention to detail and communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task
