Job Description:

  • Procures materials and equipment for the Mission Avionics Complex electronics Commodity of medium to high complexity and value for government and commercial programs. 
  • Negotiates with suppliers, evaluates bids, and selects suppliers based on price, delivery, quality, and service. 
  • Resolve problems and make recommendations. Interface with materiel, engineering, quality, and program management. 
  • Monitor activities against department objectives and submit performance reports to management. 
  • Utilize MRP systems, PeopleSoft financial system, RI Web Applications, and eXpo applications. 
  • Assist in development of strategic supplier relationships. 
  • Participate and/or lead projects/teams as assigned. 
  • Identifies process improvements and facilitates implementation.
  • Attend meetings & conference calls with programs to manage more complex procurements.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Provide mentoring and supervision to staff members.
  • Monitor and assign work to direct staff and coordinate with other group leaders to balance workload.
  • Review and approve purchase order packages above buyer signature authority.
  • Write and hold mid-year and year-end performance reviews and conduct career development discussions.
  • Champion organizational objectives and provide guidance to staff members.
  • Responsible for disseminating information to and from staff members utilizing formats such as stand up meetings and/or staff meetings.
  • Responsible for managing any performance issues of staff members including attendance or ability to carry out job responsibilities.

 

Qualifications:

  • BS/BA Degree with a minimum of 6 years prior relevant experience or Graduate Degree with a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.
  • Ability to obtain US Government security clearance

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Knowledgeable in procurement, supply chain, and material management processes.
  • Knowledge of FAR/DFAR requirements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Negotiation and follow up skills required.
  • PC skills in MS office, with Word and Excel formats essential.
  • Knowledge in Control (MRP) and PeopleSoft financials a plus.
