Job Description
The Associate Manager, Cyber Intelligence, is responsible for safeguarding and protecting information systems under the direction of the Information System Security Manager (ISSM) and in collaboration with the Information System Owner (ISO) on assigned government-authorized systems.
This role oversees a team of Information System Security Officers (ISSOs), providing leadership, task delegation, and support to ensure consistent implementation of cybersecurity practices across multiple systems. You will work directly with the ISSM to ensure compliance with the Risk Management Framework (RMF) and manage system security packages within the Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service (eMASS).
The Associate Manager also supports day-to-day security operations, ensuring compliance with applicable policies, standards, and authorization requirements. The ideal candidate will bring advanced knowledge of IT and information system security best practices to maintain the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of classified and sensitive systems.
Responsibilities include managing continuous monitoring activities such as vulnerability and network scans, developing remediation plans, overseeing Assessment & Authorization (A&A) documentation, and supporting security education and training initiatives.
Essential Functions

Lead and manage a team of ISSOs

Configure and manage scan engines for vulnerability assessments, network detection, and controlled interface scans

Execute scans, analyze results, generate reports, and recommend prioritized remediation plans

Maintain A&A documentation for assigned systems as required

Execute Continuous Monitoring Plans in alignment with RMF

Partner with IT and system managers to resolve identified vulnerabilities

Develop and maintain security documentation and system hardening guides in accordance with DISA and NIST guidelines

Perform security control assessments and system audits

Support investigations of security incidents (e.g., data spills, malicious events)

Deliver security training and awareness sessions to varied audiences

Identify and resolve system control deficiencies, manage POA&Ms, and support annual self-assessments
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree with 6+ years of relevant experience, OR Master’s degree with 4+ years of relevant experience, OR 10+ years of related experience in lieu of a degree

Active Secret security clearance

ISC2 CISSP (or equivalent certification), or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
Preferred Additional Skills

Experience as an ISSO/M, supervising or managing cybersecurity programs for classified systems under NIST SP 800-53 and DAAPM Appendix A v2.2

Familiarity with eMASS and A&A processes, including POA&M development and closure

Proficiency with vulnerability scanning and log analysis tools (e.g., Tenable Nessus, ACAS, Splunk, NMAP, Nipper)

Experience with DISA STIGs and SCAP Compliance Checker

Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Linux, and networking equipment

Ability to script and develop parsing tools (e.g., Bash, Python, PowerShell)
