Compensation Range: Between $79,500 - $129,500 CDN annually
Leading the training development activities as part of a dynamic multi-disciplinary engineering team, the candidate will be responsible for providing training development support for projects integrating modern communication systems. The candidate will be expected to work with other functional teams, customers, end-users, and other stakeholders to plan and direct the development and delivery technical training and training materials. Success criteria for this role will include:
- Development/Delivery of training materials for naval communication systems
- Establish and maintain effective collaboration amongst functional groups, customers, end-users and training stakeholders
- Alignment with naval doctrine and operational use-cases
- Accurate progress measurement and reporting
- Effective information management of training materials and related assets
- Deliver training products on schedule and within project cost and quality objectives
Essential Functions:
- identify training requirements for operation and maintenance of naval communication systems
- provide input and advice regarding doctrine, system use-cases and workflows for operating and maintaining naval communication systems
- design the training system for the integrated communication system product line
- lead the development of operator and maintenance training including courseware and simulation-based training tools
- develop and implement an accurate measurement and reporting framework for training development activities
- liaise across functional teams to gather technical data inputs for training development and support effective baseline management
- enforce effective information management tools and process to manage training development baselines
- ensure that achievement of project milestones is supported
- manage budget and resources allocated for training development and delivery
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
- Familiarity and practical experience with the Canadian Forces Individual Training and Education System
- Working knowledge of systems engineering processes , including requirements management, configuration management, and system verification activities
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in naval training, instructional systems development, or military training program delivery
- Understanding of simulation-based training
- Planning, organization and information management skills
- Experience leading diverse teams
- Basic knowledge of project management
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Knowledge of communications and information systems used by armed forces – eg. voice and data communication, radio communication, satellite communication
- Experience operating or maintaining communication systems in naval or marine environments
- Knowledge or experience with control account management
- Engineering or technical education or experience
- Formal certification, education or specialization relevant to training design and/or delivery
Eligibility Criteria (Mandatory):
- Must be eligible for registration with the Controlled Goods Program;
- Must be eligible for a government of Canada Reliability Status and NATO SECRET (Level 2) security clearance.
