About your next Challenge as a Specialist, Project Engineering:
Working as part of a dynamic multi-disciplinary team including software, hardware, and systems engineering, the candidate will be responsible for engineering management of a project or portfolio of projects involving modern integrated naval or marine communication systems. The candidate will be expected to work with project management, customer stakeholders, and with internal design, supply chain, production, and verification teams to successfully complete project engineering outputs. Success criteria for this role will include achieving project milestones, delivering systems that are technically compliant and fit for purpose, and meeting schedule and budget commitments.
What will you do:
- Become familiar with customer provided system requirement documents and statements of work
- Work with the project manager, customers and stakeholders to manage engineering deliverables
- Plan and oversee systems, hardware, and software engineering activities
- Prioritize engineering activities
- Write and/or review technical contents for documentation deliverables
- Manage technical documentation including technical specifications, design, manufacturing and test/verification documents
- Manage budget and resources allocated for engineering activities
- Contribute to process improvements
Required Skills and Experiences:
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
- Licensed Professional Engineer or other relevant professional certification
- Comprehensive knowledge of systems engineering processes
- Experience working in the defence sector
- Experience working in naval or marine environments
- Knowledge of or experience with control account management
- Experience with systems integration
- Basic knowledge of project management
Preferred Additional Skills:
- An specialty within the field of integrated communication systems
- User experience with defence communications – ideally within the naval environment
Eligibility Criteria (Mandatory):
- Must be eligible for registration with the Controlled Goods Program;
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a government of Canada “Reliability” status and Level 2 (Secret) security clearance.
- Must be eligible to meet the requirements for U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
