Title:  Senior Associate, Mechanical Engineering

About your next Challenge as a Senior Associate, Mechanical Engineering:

Working as part of a dynamic multi-disciplinary team including hardware, software and systems engineering, the candidate will be responsible for hardware and mechanical designs used within integrated naval and marine communication systems.  The candidate will design and perform engineering analyses on mechanical assemblies and devices such as electronics enclosures, installation hardware, and other ship-fit equipment.  Additional activities will include the ruggedization of Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) equipment and support to environmental qualification validation and testing.  Key success criteria for this role will include delivering designs that meet the physical and functional requirements for the system, that can be efficiently manufactured, and that are delivered on time and on budget.

What will you do:

  • Design mechanical and electro-mechanical devices using military standards
  • Ruggedize commercial off-the-shelf equipment
  • Analyze equipment performance for shock and vibration 
  • Analyze equipment for thermal performance 
  • Ensure mechanical designs meet customer and industry requirements
  • Support operations and technical staff to resolve issues identified during the building or assembly process
  • Support the verification and validation of designs and equipment
  • Plan and report on status of work
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to exchange design input and resolve design issues
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation including design documents and manufacturing documentation
  • Prepare reports for customer deliverables
  • Contribute to process improvements related to mechanical engineering

 

Required Skills and Experiences:

  • BASc in Mechanical Engineering and a minimum of two years of relevant experience. In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 6 years of related experience
  • Experience with CAD software (Creo preferred)
  • Experience with Analysis software (Ansys preferred) 
  • Experience reviewing and designing to standards

    Preferred additional skills, education and certifications:
  • Previous experience working in the defence sector
  • Knowledge and/or experience with military standards for environmental qualification, mechanical, and/or human factors
  • Professional Engineer/EIT or other relevant professional certification

 

Eligibility Criteria (Mandatory):

  • Must be eligible for registration with the Controlled Goods Program;
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a government of Canada “Reliability” status and Level 2 (Secret) security clearance.
  • Must be eligible to meet the requirements for U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
