About your next Challenge as an IT Implementation Specialist :

L3Harris Ottawa is seeking an IT Implementation Specialist to join our team. The IT Implementation Specialist will provide support to the infrastructure and software team for troubleshooting and implementation of various IT solutions. In this role, you will be responsible for implementing and managing servers and virtual machines (VMs), ensuring that our infrastructure is robust and efficient. Additionally, you will configure and maintain firewalls and access control list (ACL) rules to safeguard our systems against potential threats.


A significant part of your role will involve testing and evaluating new technologies and applications to ensure they meet our high standards before deployment. You will also install and test new applications to support our development team, helping them work more effectively. Maintaining the functionality and reliability of the Server Lab for dependent employees will be another key responsibility, ensuring that our team can work without interruptions.


Collaboration is essential in our agile environment, and you will work closely with a small, dynamic team to quickly adapt to new technologies. Your troubleshooting skills will be crucial in resolving technical issues in the lab environment, ensuring minimal downtime. Documenting configurations, procedures, and test results will be an important aspect of your role, as it will help maintain consistency and knowledge sharing within the team.


Staying updated with emerging technologies and industry best practices is vital, as it will enable you to provide informed technical support and guidance to other team members. You will also participate in the planning and execution of lab maintenance activities, ensuring that our infrastructure remains in optimal condition. Lastly, you will ensure compliance with security policies and standards, protecting our data and systems from vulnerabilities.

What will you do:

  • Implement and manage servers and virtual machines (VMs).
  • Configure and maintain firewalls and access control list (ACL) rules.
  • Test and evaluate new technologies and applications.
  • Install and test new applications to support a development team.
  • Ensure the Server Lab is functional and reliable for dependent employees.
  • Collaborate with a small, agile team to quickly adapt to new technologies.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in the lab environment.
  • Document configurations, procedures, and test results.
  • Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry best practices.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to other team members.
  • Participate in the planning and execution of lab maintenance activities.
  • Ensure compliance with security policies and standards.

 

Required Skills and Experiences:

  • Electrical Engineering Technology Diploma or any other relevant field;
  • 3-5 years of work experience;
  • Proven experience in server and VM implementation.
  • Strong knowledge of firewalls and ACL configuration.
  • Experience testing and deploying new technologies and applications.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new technologies quickly.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong documentation and communication skills.
  • Team player with a collaborative mindset.
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Certifications in relevant technologies considered a plus.
  • Organized, proactive, and focused on delivering results

 

Eligibility Criteria (Mandatory):

  • Must be eligible for registration with the Controlled Goods Program;
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a government of Canada “Reliability” status and Level 2 (Secret) security clearance.
  • Must be eligible to meet the requirements for U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
