About your next Challenge as an Engineering Intern (Process Improvement):

Working as part of a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team consisting of electrical, mechanical, software, and systems engineers. This internship provides a hands-on opportunity to contribute to the improvement of engineering tools, processes, and documentation. The candidate will coordinate with electrical, mechanical, system engineering functions and perform tasks assigned by the engineering functions, such as CAD improvement and automation, technical data extraction and management, and the preparation of technical drawings and documentation. The intern will also assist with document management tools such as SharePoint and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software.

Key criteria for this role include strong collaboration, communication, data management, and organization skills. 

 

What will you do:

  • Support CAD automation efforts by refining scripts used to generate technical drawings and documents:
    • Electrical Block Diagrams
    • Schematics
    • System-Level Block Diagrams
    • Cable and Equipment Lists
  • Support integration and testing of new automation scripts (including VBA Script and macros) with CAD Software and Excel Documents for the Electrical, Communications and System Engineering requirements to streamline workflow, reduce manual effort and enhance accuracy
  • Assist in the creation of high-level functional block diagrams based on the engineering input using Visio
  • Organize and maintain engineering documentation and files structures using SharePoint and other document management platforms
  • Help track and monitor engineering performance metrics using tools such as Jira and Scrum-based dashboards
  • Update performance and schedule metrics based on the inputs from the engineering functions
  • Contribute to the preparation of technical documents, reports, and presentation materials, incorporating feedback from the engineering functions
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings to gather meeting notes, actions list and assign and communicate to the engineering functions

Required Skills and Experiences:

Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, System Engineering, or a related field. Preference will be given to candidates having completed 2 or more years of university studies.

  • Knowledge of Macros and VBA would be valued

Eligibility Criteria (Mandatory):

  • Must be eligible for registration with the Controlled Goods Program;
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a government of Canada “Reliability” status and Level 2 (Secret) security clearance.
  • Must be eligible to meet the requirements for U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
