Title: Associate, Systems Engineer

About your next Challenge as an Associate, Systems Engineer:
Working as part of a dynamic multi-disciplinary team including hardware, software and systems engineering, the candidate will be responsible for aspects of the engineering process throughout the project lifecycle: from concept to design, test, installation and in-service-support. The candidate will become adept at functional analysis, requirements allocation and traceability, trade-off analyses, integration, verification, and test. Key criteria for this role will include collaboration, communication, data management, and organization skills.
What will you do:
- Become a subject matter expert integrating one or more subsystems used for naval communications
- Create conceptual designs that are innovative, scalable and adaptive
- Develop systems requirements and systems architectures
- Develop technical specifications for suppliers and subcontractors and provide technical evaluation of supplier and subcontractor deliverables
- Analyze designs and evaluate system performance
- Prepare and present design recommendations and engineering change requests
- Work hands-on with equipment and software in a laboratory or development environment to develop and document subsystem equipment configurations
- Ensure system designs meet customer requirements and industry standards
- Support the verification and validation of designs and equipment
- Collaborate with other engineering disciplines and technical staff
- Develop and maintain design documentation
- Prepare inputs for customer deliverables
- Plan and report on status of work
- Contribute to improvements to tools and processes related to systems engineering
Required Skills and Experiences:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering and 0 to 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.
Preferred additional skills, education and certifications:
- Experience working on complex engineering projects
- Previous experience working in the defence or marine sectors
- Knowledge or experience with military communication systems, voice and data networking, or cyber-security
- Knowledge or experience with standards relevant to naval or marine communication systems
- Working knowledge of IBM DOORS
- Proficient with MS Office
- Professional Engineer/EIT or other relevant professional certification
Eligibility Criteria (Mandatory):
- Must be eligible for registration with the Controlled Goods Program;
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a government of Canada “Reliability” status and Level 2 (Secret) security clearance.
- Must be eligible to meet the requirements for U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
