Job Description:

The Manufactuting Technician D works with other manufacturing employees testing, programming, diagnosing, and repairing electronic components and systems, specifically for laser rangefinder and designator applications. This role requires a deep understanding of laser technology, electronic principles, and precision testing methodologies. The ideal candidate will have experience working with laser rangefinders, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate effectrively with engineering and production teams to ensure the highest standard of product performance and reliability. This position works under general supervision in a production environment in support of production, repairs, and engineering development as required.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Performs any combination of following tasks to test electronics components, subassemblies, products, or systems: Reads work orders, follows production drawings, or receives verbal instructions regarding duties to be performed.
  • Familiar with in circuit programming of FPGAs and microprocessors such as but not limited to, Xilinx, Intel, Microsemi, Microchip, TI - using JTAG or vendor’s tool.
  • Able to read schematics, circuit card assembly drawings (CCA) and system wiring diagrams for troubleshooting.
  • Proficent in using equipment such as Oscilloscopes, Power Supplies, Digital-Multimeters (DMM), freqency counters, and pulse generators.
  • Ability to solder SMD components such as 0805s or smaller, ICs or similar devices for potential CCA rework / repair . (J-STD-001 certification preferred.)
  • Strong troubleshooting skills utilizing circuit theory and understanding of electrical components, including passives, MOSFETs, diodes, and similar devices.
  • Coordinates with Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing to ensure a low-cost producible design and support the transition from Development to full rate production.

 

  • Records, analyzes, and interprets test data; makes recommendations for improvements in yield.
  • Able to mentor and train junior level technicians.
  • General knowledge of laser resonators and laser electronics.
  • Builds wiring harness, solders and performs PCB assembly of electrical and electro-optical subassemblies.
  • All other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • Must be a United States Citizen
  • Requires highly developed job knowledge/skills. Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.
  • 4+ years’ experience working with military grade laser electronics in a production environment.
  • 4+ years’ experience conducting testing, integration, diagnostics, and troubleshooting on laser electronics
  • 4+ years’ experience in electrical / mechanical assembly
  • Able to work weekends and evenings as required to meet company objectives.

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Fully capable of working with minimal supervision or direction.
  • Thorough understanding of laser designators and rangefinders.
  • J-STD-001 Class 3 Certification.
