The Electronic Technician Intern C works with other manufacturing employees on the testing and operation of laser rangefinders and designators. This position works under general supervision in a production environment in support of production, repairs, and engineering development. Assists as required in the development of build techniques in order to successfully transition new products from prototype to production.
Essential Functions:
- Perform hands-on integration & testing of subsystems (e.g., multi-mode multi-sensors, analog and digital circuits, RF Communications, Inertial Sensors, Laser Transmitters, Optical Receivers) across all interfaces (i.e., mechanical, electrical, and software).
- Analyze failure data for trends, systemic issues, and reduction/elimination of test escapements.
- Support development of acceptance test procedures, production test plans, and test documentation from design requirements.
- Possess strong verbal and written communication skills through the preparation and presentation of technical reviews and program status.
- Interfacing with electrical engineers to ensure hardware producibility.
- Communicate effectively with internal customers.
- Highly interactive, willing to work in team environment
- Be able to successfully read and understand Engineering Assembly Drawings.
- Support the build and modification of electronics systems including procurement support, assembly method/work instructions generation, tooling design support, material/process development, facilities/equipment planning, and resolution of manufacturing, quality, and reliability issues.
- Support process improvement initiatives of technical and operational nature.
- Support and develop manufacturing and engineering tools, strategies and systems.
- Support the root cause and corrective action (RCCA) processes
- Performs optical inspections using inferometric equipment.
- Records, analyzes, and interprets test data, makes recommendations for improvements in yield.
- Assists in setting up and verifying optical, electronic and environmental test equipment.
- Assembles and tests optical, mechanical and electrical subassemblies.
- Coordinates with Engineering, Quality and Manufacturing to ensure a low-cost producible design and support the transition from Development to full rate production.
- Capable of assembling and testing of laser components, lasers and laser systems assemblies.
- Performs any combination of following tasks to assemble laser and laser system components, subassemblies, products, or systems: Reads work orders, follows production drawings, or receives verbal instructions regarding duties to be performed.
- Positions and aligns parts in specified relationship to each other in jig, fixture, or other holding device.
Education:
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
