Job Description:
We have an immediate opening for a Certified Welder & Manufacturing Technician to join our L3Harris team in Orlando, FL that will support our Torpedo Propulsion Program. The welding technician will use MIG/TIG welding equipment in accordance with internal and customer specifications in all phases of production. This position will perform manual and robotic welding on Inconel and Stainless Steel materials. Additionally, this role will be responsible for partnering with the Quailty team in ensuring a superior end product.
Essential Functions:
- Perform welding in accordance with manufacturing instructions.
- Read, understand and follow work instructions.
- Clean surfaces to be welded.
- Position parts in fixtures.
- Perform manual and/or remote tack and seal welding of assemblies.
- Set-up for and perform machine GTAW and GMAW welding according to weld schedules, including:
- Pre-weld purge
- Tungsten grinding
- Filler material
- Machine settings
- Complete all documentation per manufacturing requirements.
- Successfully complete qualification requirements per AWS D17.1.
- Operate standard and specialized equipment to produce prototype and/or production parts and/or tools.
- Adherence to all safety regulations and best practices.
- Use of hand and power tools, specialty tools and diagnostic equipment.
- Experience working with electro-static sensitive devices.
- Understanding of engineering drawings to build assemblies.
- Tool verification and setup.
- Use of lifting devices including cranes, lifts and pallet jacks.
- Working within a team environment.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities.
- Perform other manufacturing tasks as assigned by supervisor to achieve production requirements.
Qualifications:
Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 6 years prior relevant welder/manufacturing technician experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- AWS D17.1 Welder Certification.
- Minimum 3 years of TIG and MIG welding experience preferred.
- Understanding and ability to read and interpret Mechanical Drawings and Technical Documents.
- Strong Mechanical Aptitude for precision work.
- Good Time Management and Multi-Tasking Skills.
- Strong Verbal and written communication skills.
- Be a team player and establish effective working relationships.
- Have Basic reading, writing and arithmetic skills.
- Have Strong computer skills to use and operate various computer systems and applicable software and enter data into a computer data base.
- Have knowledge and ability to use hand tools and power tools.
- Have knowledge of occupational hazards, calibration requirements, and standard safety practices of the trade.
- Have ESD, FOD and 6S knowledge.
- Robotic MIG welding experience.
- Soldering experience.
- Prior aerospace manufacturing experience.
