Job Description:

Aerojet Rocketdyne is seeking an experienced Project Engineer for our Orange, VA location. The Sr. Specialist Project Engineer role involves performing and/or coordinating propulsion program tasks in conjunction with program management. Under limited general direction, you will be responsible for implementing design and analysis tasks and overseeing special studies and experiments. Additionally, you will coordinate ballistic, thermal, and structural analyses, as well as perform post-test examination, analyses, and reporting while supporting the program technical lead.

 

Essential Functions:

Under general direction, the Sr. Specialist Project Engineer determines approaches to objectives demonstrating a complete understanding and application of principles, concepts, and practices: 

60% - Support Engineering teams working on solid rocket motor development and production program tasks/problem resolution, etc. Coordinate engineering work; manage technical progress, risk, schedule, and cost as needed

15% - Monitor technical progress and interface with Program Management, Aerojet Rocketdyne customers, and other Aerojet Rocketdyne functional organizations to understand and develop resolution to program technical issues

15% - Provide technical consultation to Program Management and Business Development organizations for business development activities such as writing white papers or preparing and presenting technical briefings to customers

5% - Support the technical lead on proposals to government customers or prime contractors for propulsion development or technology programs

5% - Provide inputs to written and verbal status reports to Engineering lead, Aerojet Rocketdyne Management, and provide input and leadership at product team meetings

 

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and minimum of 6 years of prior relevant Engineering experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years  of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

·        6 or more years of experience with solid propellant propulsion projects is highly desired

·        Background in CAD, GD&T, Analysis or Materials is desirable

·        Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software is desired
