Job Description:

 

L3 Harris is seeking an experienced Project Engineer for our Orange, VA location. The Specialist Project Engineer role involves performing and/or coordinating propulsion program tasks in conjunction with program management. Under limited general direction, you will be responsible for implementing design and analysis tasks and overseeing special studies and experiments. Additionally, you will coordinate ballistic, thermal, and structural analyses, as well as perform post-test examination, analyses, and reporting while supporting the program technical lead. 

 

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Provide imaginative, thorough, and practicable solutions to a wide range of technical problems involving the conventional utilization of engineering techniques
  • Read, interpret, and write specifications and technical documents
  • Prepare technical and design requirements in support of project goals
  • Keep current in relevant technologies and methods in support of project assignments
  • Provide direction in problem investigations and resolution across functional areas
  • Understand and/or leads Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) process
  • Review and approve engineering drawings
  • Travel up to 25%

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering and minimum of 4 years of prior relevant Engineering experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years  of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.

 

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering, Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
  • Two or more years of experience with solid propellant propulsion projects is highly desired.
  • Ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing, with technical and non-technical professionals at all levels.
  • Ability to establish and maintain priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to work well both independently and within a team environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, in a collaborative, dynamic and multi-disciplinary environment.

 

 

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in Virginia is $80,500-$149,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
