Job Description:
The Specialist, Government Compliance is responsible for ensuring compliance with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), FAR Supplements and/or specific contractual requirements related to the property management system across all programs. This role helps ensure property management practices, records, systems, and internal controls meet contractual, regulatory, and company requirements throughout the property lifecycle, including receipt, recordkeeping, movement, inventory, maintenance, reporting, and disposition.
Essential Functions:
- Oversee and support compliance with FAR 52.245-1 and related contractual requirements for government and customer-owned property.
- Maintain accurate property records and assist in monitoring internal controls to ensure accountability of assets.
- Review contract requirements, property clauses, and customer terms to support compliant property administration across programs.
- Perform internal self-assessments, record reviews, and physical inventory activities.
- Investigate property losses, damages, destructions, and corrective actions in accordance with applicable procedures and reporting requirements.
- Support government property audits, customer reviews, and internal compliance assessments.
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of property transactions including receipt, tagging, transfer, inventory, maintenance, storage, and disposition.
- Partner with program management, contracts, supply chain, operations, quality, finance, and engineering to support compliant property management practices.
- Prepare reports and documentation related to property compliance and accountability.
- Assist in corrective action development and implementation for audit findings and process deficiencies.
- Support contract closeout and final disposition activities for customer and government-owned property.
- Provide guidance to cross-functional teams on government property requirements, policies, and procedures.
- Assist with development and updates to property management procedures and work instructions.
- Escalate compliance risks, control gaps, and unresolved property issues to management as needed.
- Serve as a point of contact for property compliance matters with internal stakeholders and external customers or government representatives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior relevant government compliance / contracts experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, Operations, or related field.
- Familiarity with the FAR and DFARS property requirements and related regulations.
- Experience in aerospace, defense, manufacturing, or other regulated industry environments.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with property management systems, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office tools.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating across functional teams.
- Experience supporting audits, inventory activities, or compliance reviews.
- Knowledge of inventory control, asset accountability, material management, and contract closeout processes.
- Experience developing reports, procedures, training materials, or corrective action documentation.
- Professional certification related to property management, compliance, or contracts is a plus.
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in Virginia is $63,500 – $117,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
