Job Description
The Missile Solutions Segment of L3Harris is seeking a Senior Supervisor, Facilities – 2nd Shift to join our Orange, VA location. Our site near Culpeper, VA—located in beautiful, rural Orange County, approximately 1.5 hours from Washington, DC—is growing! This location serves as our center of excellence for solid rocket motor propulsion, energetics development, and high‑complexity production programs.

The Senior Facilities Supervisor is on call 24/7 and is responsible for coordinating, organizing, and managing the work of employees involved in the maintenance and upkeep of the company’s facilities, structures, grounds, equipment, and machinery. This includes maintaining and coordinating the Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) program.

This position initiates, implements, and manages the plant maintenance program based on best practices, with an emphasis on planning, scheduling, and preventive maintenance. Additional responsibilities include developing policies and procedures related to maintenance and construction operations; ensuring employee safety; preparing and administering the department budget; estimating staffing, equipment, and material needs based on trends and planned activities; approving purchase requisitions; and monitoring expenditures for ongoing projects.

Essential Functions

70% – Manage Maintenance Teams Through Planned and Unplanned Maintenance
Plan the work: Prioritize, schedule, and assign work orders. Forecast needs and ensure parts are ordered. Proactively develop countermeasures to eliminate repetitive faults or downtime. Coordinate overtime and outsourced work. Work with the Maintenance Planner to complete and maintain compliance on PMs, follow up on scheduled activities, and ensure quality performance.
Ensure productivity: Provide or coordinate daily work plans for individuals and team leads. Rove the site to verify that work is completed safely and efficiently.
Housekeeping: Define acceptable standards and perform spot inspections to maintain 6S expectations. Provide timely feedback to the team.
Training: Identify expectations for each team member and seek out training that supports organizational goals. Continually review and update the critical skills matrix.
Communication: Collaborate with team leads to establish standards, processes, and expectations. Work daily with leads to plan work and develop schedules.
Accountability: Set and communicate expectations across all responsibilities. Engage with team members regularly and uphold standards in alignment with HR guidelines.
Reporting: Provide status updates for individuals and teams. Recommend work to be outsourced or budgeted, as well as equipment upgrades or overhauls.

20% – Cross‑Department Collaboration
Coordinate with Safety, Manufacturing, Quality, Test, and Facilities Engineering to update and maintain sketches, drawings, and documentation related to plant maintenance. This includes water treatment systems, high‑pressure boilers, tanks, valves, and other certifications required at the county, state, and federal levels.

10% – Managerial Responsibilities for Direct Reports
Safety: Ensure each team member understands task requirements and has the appropriate safety equipment. Follow up to verify adherence to all safety procedures.
General supervisory duties: Provide on‑call supervision; coordinate on‑call duty personnel; assist in screening and hiring maintenance personnel; approve timecards; and perform other supervisory responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications
Requires practical knowledge of the job area. Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
