Job Description:

 

We are seeking an experienced Lead Manufacturing Engineer to work at our Missile Solutions facilities for chemical process scaleup. The position will report to Advanced Operations Technology (AOT) organization.  

 

The selected candidate will specialize in developing automation solutions for the Aerojet Rocketdyne segment, and work with the manufacturing and facility teams to design, develop, mature, and scale-up chemical processes to improve manufacturing capability, effectiveness, and employee safety. The Lead Manufacturing Engineer will support manufacturing modernization initiatives within the scope of automation and chemical process scale-up. The AOT team works with stakeholders to identify opportunities in the manufacturing process, draft technical requirements and craft solutions which align with the organization’s vision for manufacturing modernization. This requires motivated, self-starting individuals with a passion for technical creativity and the ability to work with others to achieve results.  Furthermore, the Lead Manufacturing Engineer supporting this project will lead developing process solutions through designing, project management activities, developing requirements, working with key suppliers, testing the process at the pilot scale, and transitioning the solution to the production scale including commissioning and startup.

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Chemical and Systems Engineering lifecycle which includes developing requirements, creating conceptual solutions, preparing plans, managing suppliers, testing systems, and handing off the system to the end user.
  • Support the Development and implementation of the vision for the automation systems engineering team, creating standards to drive commonality, easier transitions to production, and system support.
  • Troubleshoot existing systems to resolve issues and focusing on continuous improvement.
  • Identify modernization opportunities leveraging continuous improvement tools and documenting business case for implementation.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% to varying locations.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant engineering experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related engineering experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related engineering experience.
  • Active U.S. Secret Security Clearance. 

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

 

  • Knowledge of chemical process systems design/sustainment.
  • Experience of chemical process scale-up from pilot to production scale.
  • Experience developing statements or work and functional requirements specification documents.
  • Experience in creating and managing P&IDs.
  • Experience in equipment sizing.
  • Experience in project management.
  • Experience managing 3rd party equipment suppliers.
  • Experience in managing and supporting 3rd party Architectural and Engineering firms.
