Job Description
Our site near Culpeper, VA, located in beautiful, rural Orange County (1.5 hours from Washington, DC), is growing! This site is our center of excellence for Solid Rocket Motor Propulsion and Energetics development, as well as high‑complexity production programs.
This position will join an exceptional cross‑functional team of engineers and technicians to fabricate components and assemble them into some of the most advanced solid rocket systems in the world. Aerojet Rocketdyne is an industry‑leading supplier of missile components to the U.S. government for national defense.
This role may perform functions such as fabricating components; cleaning and assembling equipment; cleaning tools, parts, and work areas; operating machinery; mixing or processing liner materials; and applying liner to cases and components. Additional responsibilities may include pressure testing, bonding, assembly, painting, precision part cleaning, mixing adhesives, torquing fasteners, and performing all other duties required to assemble and prepare products for shipment. The Manufacturing Technician maintains records for manufactured products and works safely while producing high‑quality products and maintaining a clean, orderly work area.
Working under direct supervision, the Manufacturing Technician performs routine, repetitive duties within the manufacturing operations area and applies general manufacturing knowledge to basic problems to determine logical solutions.
Essential Functions:
Precision assembly of complex aerospace components
Case preparation; line and cast; cure, strip, and machine solid rocket propellant
Other duties as assigned by the supervisor and/or lead
Qualifications:
Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 4 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with 0 to 2 years of prior related experience
Preferred Additional Skills:
Ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance
Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions
Strong adherence to safety practices
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with team members and others encountered in the course of work
Ability to perform mathematical calculations accurately and efficiently
Ability to work with management, supervisors, or lead personnel to prioritize work and meet critical deadlines

Experience with precision assembly, including use of torque tooling, mixing and applying adhesives, leak‑check testing, etc.
