Job Description:

 

Our site near Culpeper, VA, in beautiful, rural Orange County (1.5 hours from Washington, DC) is growing!  This site is our center of excellence for Solid Rocket Motor Propulsion and Energetics development as well as high-complexity production programs.

 

The position will join an exceptional cross-functional team of engineers and technicians to fabricate components and assemble them into the most advanced solid rocket systems in the world. Aerojet-Rocketdyne is an industry leading supplier of missile components to the government for use in national defense. 

 

Working under direct supervision, the Manufacturing Technician performs routine and repetitive duties within the manufacturing operations area. This position applies general manufacturing knowledge to basic problems to come up with logical answers. Manufacturing Technicians may perform functions such as fabrication of components, clean and assemble equipment, clean tools, parts, and work area, and operate machinery.

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Precision Assembly of complex aerospace components.
  • Use a variety of machinist hand tools and precision measuring instruments; perform shop computations; and assemble precision parts.
  • Fabricate piece parts per work instructions, drawings, and specifications using required machine tools.
  • Perform duties and tasks required to assemble and prepare for shipment of products, including:
    • Pressure test
    • Bond, assemble
    • Paint
    • Precision part clean
    • Mix adhesives
    • Torque fasteners
  • Mix or process liner materials, apply liner to cases and components.
  • Case prep, line and cast, cure, strip, and machine solid rocket propellant.
  • Maintains records for manufactured products
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor and/or lead.
  • Ability to obtain a US Security Clearance

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 4 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with 0-2 years of prior related experience.

  • Ability to read, interpret and understand work instructions, drawings, etc.
  • Experience with precision assembly such as use of toque tooling, mix and apply adhesives, leak check testing, etc.
