Job Description:

 

L3Harris Technologies is seeking a Manager, Operations Management at the Aerojet Rocketdyne Segment’s Orange, VA site. Our site is near Culpeper, VA, in beautiful, rural Orange County (1.5 hours from Washington, DC)!  This site is our center of excellence for Solid Rocket Motor Propulsion and Energetics development as well as high-complexity production programs.

We are a world-recognized aerospace and defense leader that provides propulsion and energetics to the space, missile defense and strategic systems, tactical systems and armaments areas, in support of domestic and international markets. 

 

This Manager role will report to the Orange Site Leader, Director of Orange Operations in the Missile solutions Sector of Aerojet Rocketdyne.  The Orange, Virginia site is a critical site linked to the success of the Missile Solutions sector of Aerojet Rocketdyne, and to the defense of our nation and allies.  The site manufactures, tests, and delivers small and medium solid rocket motors with over 350 people and has tremendous growth forecasted for the foreseeable future.

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Provide leadership and management of propellant mixing and casting for the Orange, Virginia site.

  • Lead all site propellant mix and cast activities to ensure products are produced to schedule and budget. 

  • Provide leadership to a diverse team and mentor the team in achieving operational excellence.

  • Develop operations leaders and operators by ensuring we have leaders and operators that are ready for the next level through deliberate training and succession planning.

  • Establish and/or improve propellant mix and cast processes across the site between production and development as well as cross-site collaboration

  • Support site visit interactions with external customers and government officials.

  • Ensure compliance to both safety and QA regulatory offices. 

  • Ensure that both commercial and government QA certifications are maintained through site compliance.

  • Interface with Program Managers to ensure alignment of resources and capabilities to meet business demands.

  • Lead site activities that ensure standard business practices are in place and practiced across all of Operations.

  • Work with Human Resources to improve employee experience within the Operations Division, resulting in attrition reduction and talent attraction.

  • Up to 20% business travel to other L3Harris locations. 
  • Ability to obtain US Security Clearance. 

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years prior manufacturing leadership experience. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 7 years of prior manufacturig leadership experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior manufacturing leadership experience.

  • 5+ years experience leading manufacturing / production operations within the aerospace and defense industry.   

  • 3+ years experience working at an energetics aerospace and defense site.

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

 

  • Proficient Written and Verbal Communication Skills.

  • Experience leading production operations in a DOD energetic facility.

  • Experience using LEAN principles leading production operations.

  • Thorough understanding and demonstrated use of ERP systems.
