Job Description:

 

L3Harris Technologies is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lead, Project Manager to join our Aerojet Rocketdyne segment in the Missile Solutions sector, based in Orange, VA. We are seeking a dynamic leader to support the transition of future work to the Orange, VA site. Candidate must be customer-focused and provide the best, most cost-effective systems or capabilities, within contract bounds, while remaining innovative and agile to achieve the optimal solution. Candidate must be able to operate independently, drive change, and continually seek to manage projects through to completion. This role requires absolute honesty in reporting project status, including risks, corrective actions, along with providing potential solutions. Candidate must be able to direct a technical and/or operational effort, making clear the objectives of the project at the same time as providing clear assignments & deliverables for each team member. Additionally, the candidate must be able to gauge the overall effort and re-direct questions towards the team (to include the senior leadership team) to quickly iterate or pivot the project to its needed successful completion with all actions resolved. It is important for the candidate to have the ability to estimate, manage cost and integrated schedule, understand earned value management tools, and deliver on commitments. Lasty, the candidate must have the ability to effectively communicate progress and issues to higher-level management, functional discipline leaders (COE’s), the program integrated product team leads, and supporting team members

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Accountable for the cost, schedule and technical performance of the program transition efforts.

  • Plan the execution of the program and its activities in accordance with contractual requirements and company processes, policies, and systems.

  • In conjunction with the functional leadership (Engineering, Operations, and Quality etc.), ensure that the program is adequately resourced with well-qualified staff.

  • Manage the transition IPT from the Orange site, while coordinating with the other impacted sites

  • Effectively communicate with customers and other stakeholders. Establish open communication to ensure effective and efficient program execution.

  • Prepare reports/briefings on the program for executive management. Ensure that the program operates within approved budgets and that any issues are surfaced in a timely manner. Identify and manage risks and opportunities associated with business unit programs. Monitor the program and conduct periodic evaluations to identify opportunities for improvement.

  • Lead program transition review sessions.

  • 25% business travel required between L3Harris sites to support transition activities.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 9 years of relevant operations or project management experience, Graduate Degree with a minimum of 7 years of related operations or project management experience, or 13 years of prior related operations or project management experience in lieu of a degree.

  • Active U.S. Secret Security Clearance.

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

 

  • A strong background in program financial management, and integrated master planning/scheduling.

  • Experience with operational execution and/or manufacturing processes.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to present at all levels within the company as well as with external customers.

  • Ability to develop consensus and drive the organization to achieve program goals.

  • Demonstrated highly effective organization, team orientation and leadership skills.
