Job Description:
Under general supervision determines routing and packs material for shipment, considering such factors as nature of items shipped, method of handling, size, urgency, carrier selection and cost. Performs clerical duties related to shipping, packaging, receiving to purchase orders and Ariba receipts, returns to vendor, delivery of materials and equipment, and processing of tooling. Assists the Receiving Clerk in maintaining all associated receipt and shipping documentation. Also assists in conducting cycle counts and helps out in other areas of logistics when needed. Performs record keeping duties and inventories as required. Responsible for storing, processing stock pulls/requisitions, material transfers, while conforming to necessary record keeping standards. Safely operates all material handling equipment.
Essential Functions:
40% - Responsible for accuracy of data for receipts and shipments, checking packing lists against incoming freight, noting discrepancies, working with Purchasing to resolve problems, distribution of associated paperwork, filing and maintaining records of transactions.
25% - Responsible for performing the activities associated with and creating transaction records for receipts and shipments.
15% - Responsible for safely packing material for shipment via multiple carriers to various destinations.
10% - Monitors conditions of stored materials regarding identification, housekeeping, safety/compatibility, and temperature control requirements.
5% - Perform routine vehicle and equipment maintenance and safety checks.
5% - Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Requires a High School diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant inventory control/material handling experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 2 years prior related experience.
- Must have a valid driver's license.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Experience working in an aerospace industry environment is highly desired.
- Experience in material management and inventory reconciliation strongly desired.
- Demonstrated experience performing all material control related activities: receiving, storing, issuing, and transporting materials.
- Computer proficiency with Oracle (Inventory Control or Material Workbench) or other inventory/warehouse software, bar coding and scanning is desired.
- Knowledge of material control functions and procedures.
- Experience in explosives handling, packaging and shipping is desired.
- Experience driving forklifts or other material handling equipment.
- Experience using common MS software (Excel, Power Point, Word).
- Good communication and team building skills.
