Job Description:

 

The Missile Solutions Segment of L3Harris is currently seeking an Industrial Mechanic supporing our facilites department at our Orange, VA site.

 

The Industrial Mechanic will be responsible for tenant improvements and new construction of a growing facility. Assisting supervisors with structural design, planning, and layout. Operating of hand and power tools along with operating of heavy equipment. Compliance with local building codes, and health and safety regulations.

 

This position may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.

 

 

Essential Functions:

 

 

  • 60% - Repair and maintenance of existing facilities. 
    • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
    • Working with hand and power tools.
    • Work may also require the ability to operate material handling equipment (forklift, crane, hoist, man lift, snow plow, etc.) in a safe manner. While performing the duties of this job, employees may work around variable noise levels or with fume or airborne particles, hazardous chemicals, etc. requiring the use of personal protective equipment such as face protection (safety glasses, goggles, face shield), foot protection (i.e. steel toed shoes, rubber boots, etc.), gloves, hard hat, shop coat and hearing protection.
  • 30% - New construction.
  • 10%- 6S General shop upkeep, cleaning, or organizing work area.
  • Valid VA driver’s license.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 8 years of prior Mechanical experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 4 years of prior Mechanical experience.
  • Ability to operate a forklift.

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

 

  • Experience Welding (tig/stick/mig) is strongly preferred.
  • Heavy equipment rigging is strongly preferred.
  • Operation of fabrication equipment (press brake/shear) preferred.
  • Operation of manual machining equipment (lathe/mill) preferred.
