The Aerojet Rocketdyne Segment of L3Harris is seeking a Facilities Technician B to work at our Orange, VA location. Our site near Culpeper, VA, in beautiful, rural Orange County (1.5 hours from Washington, DC) is growing!  This site is our center of excellence for Solid Rocket Motor Propulsion and Energetics development as well as high-complexity production programs. This position will report directly to the Associate Manager of Facilities, under general supervision of the Facilities Manager. With some knowledge and experience in landscaping and construction, works under the direction of a Lead Skilled Craftsman to perform duties as required for maintaining the plant facilities.

 

Duties include general maintenance tasks such as plowing snow, mowing, operating hand and power tools, etc. The work environment may require a combination of indoor and outdoor activity (hot, cold, wet, humid conditions). Work may require the ability to operate material handling equipment (forklift, crane, hoist, man lift, etc.) in a safe manner. While performing the duties of this job, employees may work around variable noise levels or with fume or airborne particles, hazardous chemicals, etc. requiring the use of personal protective equipment such as face protection (safety glasses, goggles, face shield), foot protection (i.e. steel toed shoes, rubber boots, etc.), gloves, hard hat, shop coat and hearing protection. Work requires the ability to change into or out of personal protective equipment when entering or exiting manufacturing, laboratory, or other areas. Will be required to drive between various locations within the Company facility. Work duties may also be required to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer. Ability to distinguish colors maybe necessary. This position may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.

 

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • 50% - Landscaping/grounds maintenance

  • 40% - Construction, excavating

  • 10% - 6S general shop upkeep, cleaning, or organizing

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 4 years of prior relevant electrical experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 0-2 years of prior related electrical experience.

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

 

  • Experience operating excavating equipment to include skid steer loader, walk behind trencher, mini excavator and dump trucks.

  • Proficient computer skills (such as MS Word and Excel, including use of formulas) strongly desired.
