Job Description:

 

The Aerojet Rocketdyne Segment of L3Harris is seeking a NDT Technician to work on 2nd shift at our Orange, VA location. Our site near Culpeper, VA, in beautiful, rural Orange County (1.5 hours from Washington, DC) is growing! This site is our center of excellence for Solid Rocket Motor Propulsion and Energetics development as well as high-complexity production programs.

 

Essential Functions: 

 

  • Film Radiography set up & execute to Procedures and/or industry best practices and with Guidance

  • Set up Scan, train on Digital Processes & Equipment

  • NDT Equipment Maintenance

  • Perform required Systems checks

  • Able to obtain Secret Clearance for Classified Work

  • Under limited supervision and with no instruction needed on routine work, the NDT Technician (Radiographic Level II) performs assignments requiring general use and application of concepts, practices and techniques

  • 20% - Set up and operate conventional and Digital Radiographic (DR) inspection equipment, including Computed Tomography (CT), to inspect parts, materials, and assemblies to determine the existence and extent of discontinuities
  • 30% - Use complex Software programs (efX-CT, efX-DR, imageJ®, VG StudioMax®) to evaluate digital images and CT data files
  • 15% - Interpret both film and digital based radiographic images to determine location of subsurface and surface defects, such as inclusions, cracks, porosity, voids, unbonds, etc. Effectively communicate findings and relay information accurately through proper reporting processes and inspection reports
  • 15% - Perform inspection operations in accordance with Quality Control Standards, written specifications, or verbal instructions. Participate as required in product/process auditing through hardware/data verification and Statistical Process Control (SPC) verification
  • 10% - Complete all related documentation
  • 10% - Maintain NDT Equipment

 

Qualifications:

 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 6 years of prior technician experience or 2 years post. Secondary/Associates Degree with 2 years of prior technician experience

  • Certification in NDT as a Radiographic Level II technician required. The selected individual will need to provide Testing Records and related Documented OJT records, all from NAS-410 certified Trainers and on NAS-410

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

 

  • Radiography experience and/or certs (Film, DR, CT)

  • Prior experience and training with documentation both Classroom and OJT in MPI , FPI , UT

  • NDT Software familiarity

  • Additional experience and/or certification in Magnetic Particle, Liquid Penetrant, or Ultrasonics

  • Experience in either the aerospace or defense industry
