Job Description:
Our site near Culpeper, VA, in beautiful, rural Orange County (1.5 hours from Washington, DC) is growing! This site is our center of excellence for Solid Rocket Motor Propulsion and Energetics development as well as high-complexity production programs.
The position will join an exceptional cross-functional team of engineers and technicians to fabricate components and assemble them into the most advanced solid rocket systems in the world. Aerojet-Rocketdyne is an industry leading supplier of missile components to the government for use in national defense. Supports all Orange programs development and production.
Position is working with mixing chemicals and energetics up to a large scale. Position will require working with hand tools.
Essential Functions:
- Perform routine tests, mix/cast chemicals and energetics, collect data, and operate equipment in accordance with standard procedures.
- Demonstrate proficiency in following detailed work standards and following safety protocols.
- Demonstrate proficiency in acquiring skills and performing work with specialization as required.
- Conduct laboratory procedures for chemical analysis with wet chemical techniques or analytical instruments.
- Perform laboratory procedures including mechanical testing, environmental exposure, combustion testing, hazard testing and propellant compatibility testing to evaluate the suitability of materials for specific product or process applications.
- Apply results for quality control purposes, process or product failure analysis or other forensic purposes, contamination analysis or for the understanding of results from engineering development activities.
- Ability to obtain a US Secret Security Clearance.
- Possess a valid driver’s license.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 4 years of prior manufacturing experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 0-2 years of prior manufacturing experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Experience with chemicals and chemical processing.
- Ability to work with various hand tools.
- Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
- Ability to follow safety practices and proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with the work team and those contacted in the course of work.
- Ability to work with management, supervisor or lead personnel to prioritize work and meet critical deadlines.
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in Virginia is $21.63/hr - $40.38/hr. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
