Job Description: 

 

The Aerojet Rocketdyne Segment of L3Harris is seeking an agile, organized, result oriented NDT Engineering Technician to work at our Orange, VA location. Candidate shall be capable of reading & interpreting Drawings, Technical Documents, Planning & following detailed procedures. Also, will be able to work independently & provide guidance to lower level Technicians as required & collaborate well & communicate with teammates and Engineering. Also, will be required to make accept reject decisions IAW LIII Guidance & Technical criteria.

 

Must be willing to work alternative shifts and or additional Hours to accommodate ongoing Construction, Production demand & support any necessary recovery plan to support Enterprise.

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Set up and operate conventional and Digital Radiographic (DR) inspection equipment, including Computed Tomography (CT), to inspect parts, materials, and assemblies to determine the existence and extent of discontinuities.
  • Use complex Software programs (efX-CT, efX-DR, ImageJ®, VG StudioMax®) to evaluate digital images and CT data files.
  • Interpret both digital and film based radiographic images to determine location of subsurface and surface defects, such as inclusions, cracks, porosity, voids, unbonds, etc. Effectively communicate findings and relay information accurately through proper reporting processes and inspection reports.
  • Perform inspection operations in accordance with Quality Control Standards, written specifications, or verbal instructions. Participate as required in product/process auditing through hardware/data verification and Statistical Process Control (SPC) verification activities.
  • Learn inspection related software & inspection Tools

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 4 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with 0 to 2 years of prior related experience.

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

 

  • Technical NDT certificate, Engineering Degree and/or prior Documented LII experience. All Records including OJT, Technical & Testing are required to accept prior training & certifications. 
  • Working knowledge of ASTM’s, SNT-TC-1A, NAS-410 standards and typical aerospace processes (machining, welding, fabrication, material forming, product assembly, Foreign Object prevention.
  • Experience in continuous improvement tools (e.g. Lean, 6S, root cause analysis, process mapping) etc.
  • Ability to travel to other L3Harris and customer sites.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft applications including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Etc.
  • Experience developing new Techniques & processes in a multi-functional team environment strongly desired.
  • Strong writing and verbal skills, and an ability to mentor & collaborate with team members.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude necessary to work through complex machine set-ups as required.

 

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in Virgina (outside of Greater D.C. area) is $21.63/hr - $40.38/hr. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
