Job Description:

 

The Aerojet Rocketdyne Segment of L3Harris is seeking an Aerospace Manufacturing Technician to work at our Orange, VA location. This site is our center of excellence for Solid Rocket Motor Propulsion and Energetics development as well as high-complexity production programs.

 

The Manufacturing Technician will join an exceptional cross-functional team of engineers and technicians to fabricate components and assemble them into the most advanced solid rocket systems in the world. Aerojet Rocketdyne is an industry leading supplier of missile components to the government for use in national defense. This position performs functions such as produce solid-propellant rocket fuel, clean and assembles equipment, cleans tools, parts, and work area, operates machinery and all other duties and tasks required. Maintains records for manufactured products. Works safely while producing a high quality product and maintaining a clean and orderly work area.

 

Essential Functions:

 

30% - Wire prep and solder components

 

20% - Clean, assemble and dismantle various types of hardware and tooling

 

20% - Fill our paperwork and collect data which may require performing mathematical calculations

 

10% - Operate various equipment (e.g. crimping machine, soldering iron and ovens) as part of the manufacturing process

 

Qualifications:

 

Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 4 years of prior relevevant manufacturing experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with 0 to 2 years of prior related experience.

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

 

·        J-Standard Certification

·        Understanding of mechanical equipment and its operation

·        Ability to work with tools: both hand and electric or pneumatic

·        Demonstrated ability to apply oneself within a personnel environment while completing semi-repetitive tasks in a sequential manner

·        Good oral and written communication skills

·        Ability to complete multiple tasks and prioritize in an appropriate manner

·        Ability to make good judgment calls when it comes to making decisions as to process, equipment use and following safety precautions

·        Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license
