Job Description:

The Specialist, Integration and test Engineer is responsible for supporting the RC-135 Mission Training Systems for our location at Offutt AFB, Nebraska, providing maintenance, test, sustainment, and subject matter expertise on extremely complex mission systems simulators.

 

Essential Functions: 

  • Operating LOS and SATCOM radios in voice, text, and data modes. 
  • Performing radio front panel and remote loading, configuration, and operation.
  • Configuring, loading, operating, and maintaining various crypto devices.
  • Performing configuration, setup, and usage of Data Transfer Devices.
  • Operating and sustaining various datalinks and broadband communications.
  • Troubleshooting/Repairing HF, VHF, and UHF receiver/transmitter systems.
  • Troubleshooting Antennae, RF distribution, diplexers, and RF switches.
  • Operating and sustaining digital/computer-based systems, associated networks, digital and analog audio/interphone and recorder systems.
  • Repairing coax, ethernet, and multi-pin cables and connections.
  • Documenting system status using Maintenance documentation systems, standardized forms and equipment tags.
  • Utilizing electronic schematic diagrams to troubleshoot and repair digital and analog circuits.
  • Managing system records and coordinating with maintenance supply organizations for requisition, documentation, and turn-in of parts. 
  • Able to gain expertise on current and new systems while having a clear understanding of their operational use.
  • Able to lift to 50 lbs. up to 5% of the time and climb ladders daily.
  • Prioritize work tasks based upon operational needs.
  • RC-135 communications operation/sustainment experience.
  • Familiarity with signal generators, spectrum analyzers and other advanced test equipment.
  • Experience with CISCO and Brocade switch diagnostic and troubleshooting commands.
  • Ability to instruct others on communication systems configuration, operations, and troubleshooting.
  • Must be able to occasionally work at heights between 50 to 100 feet (on a standing platform) to perform annual antennae maintenance/inspections.
  • Must be able to work various shifts to include some weekends, mission dependent.
  • Willing and able to travel up to 5% of the time.
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with four (4) years of prior experience on communications, RF systems, datalinks, crypto, computers, and LAN networks.
  • Graduate Degree with two (2) years of prior experience in communications, RF systems, datalinks, crypto, computers, and LAN networks.
  • In lieu of a degree, a minimum of six (6) years of prior experience in communications, RF systems, datalinks, crypto, computers, and LAN networks.
  • Must have an Active Secret Clearance at the time of hire with the ability to obtain Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance within the first year.
  • Ability to successfully obtain DoD Information Assurance level I certification or higher within the first year.
  • Ability to successfully obtain CompTIA level 1 certification within the first year.
  • Previously qualified to operate/sustain RC-135 aircraft and/or ground communication systems or similar within the last 3 years.
  • Must be a US Citizen.

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Active Top Secret with SCI.
