Job Description:
L3Harris is seeking a Sr. Manager, Systems Engineer, to lead our RC-135 Ground Mission Systems teams providing multi-faceted support to RC-135 aircraft and ground mission system operations. The manager will be based at our location at Offutt AFB, Nebraska but will also have oversight of small teams at Nellis AFB, Nevada, and Joint Base Elmendorf–Richardson, Alaska.
Essential Functions:
- Maintaining oversight of all team functional activities operating, maintaining, and sustaining the RC-135 Ground Data Processing System (GDPS), Modular Processing System (MPS), Secure Access Control System (SACS), Mission Crew Training System (MCTS), Operational Flight Trainer (OFT), and other RC-135 associated ground systems, both at home stations and at deployed locations.
- Collaborating with internal/external customers and other company engineering functions and sites at all levels.
- Supporting user and company systems engineers during ground systems baseline upgrades and other system modifications.
- Providing weekly/monthly status updates and reports to management and USAF customers and providing other reports as required.
- Providing budget, staffing, and compensation planning projections and leading the team’s hiring efforts.
- Monitoring administrative, operational, and staffing requirements and adjusting as necessary to support current and projected team needs and contractual obligations.
- Supervising team members through all phases of the performance management cycle; from goal setting, providing feedback, appraising staff, to completing mid-year and annual employee evaluations.
- Developing managers at all levels; providing mentorship and guidance with respect to career development and opportunities for growth.
- Monitoring, approving, or adjusting expense reports as needed to ensure team expenditure follows applicable policies.
- Ability to be deployed worldwide up to 10%.
- Effective leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with an ability to collaborate with others as well as motivate/manage teams.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree with nine (9) years of prior systems engineering experience leading, managing, and/or supervising multiple individuals or teams.
- Graduate Degree with seven (7) years of prior systems engineering experience leading, managing, and/or supervising multiple individuals or teams.
- In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 13 years of prior systems engineering experience leading, managing, and/or supervising multiple individuals or teams.
- Five (5) years or more directly supporting or executing RC-135 mission and/or training operations or equivalent systems/platforms.
- Active Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain Top Secret with SCI Security Clearance.
- Must be a US Citizen.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Active Top Secret with SCI.
- Field Service experience, particularly with the RC-135 program.
