Job Description:

The Quality Engineer supports execution of Quality activities for developmental, production, and aftermarket contracts.  They will also execute plans and methods for assigned programs to assure adherence to all contractual quality requirements and company Quality Management System (QMS) policies and procedures.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide frontline support to manufacturing activities, including inspection and test activities, troubleshooting, and Material Review Board (MRB) management of nonconformances.
  • Evaluate and disposition customer returns, in-process defects, and address day to day quality concerns.  Rapidly implementing containment and corrective actions as applicable.
  • Support, mentor, and guide cross-functional groups in problem solving efforts confirming root cause identification, generating corrective actions and verification items are implemented and sustained.
  • Participate in the planning and implementation of the L3Harris Zero Defect Plan program.
  • Generate and analyze data and metrics to prioritize corrective action and improvement activities.
  • Participate in and support manufacturing (Gemba) and program status and scrum meetings.
  • Plan, analyze, survey and control to assure that all applicable quality requirements are adhered to in all phases of a program, from contract award through end customer acceptance.
  • Review new contracts to determine the quality assurance requirements and flow down requirements to the appropriate level. 
  • Participate in Engineering design reviews, review engineering drawings for conformance to quality requirements and sign off on approved drawings. 
  • Partner with Engineering to identify Critical to Quality (CTQ) test and inspection requirements.
  • Partner with Manufacturing Engineering to implement test and inspection plans and processes.
  • Partner with Supplier Quality to ensure applicable requirements are flowed down to subcontractors and managed appropriately.
  • Input into process layouts, build plans, work instructions, and visual aids to assist in continuous improvement efforts for supporting production.
  • Prepare, or support the preparation of, cost estimates. 

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in related field.
  • Ability to obtain Secret level security clearance.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office suite.

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • CQE and/or other ASQ Certifications preferred.
  • Secret level security clearance at time of hire preferred.
  • Electrical, electro-optical, and mechanical assembly background.
  • IPC/J-Std and/or Fiber Optic manufacturing background.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems. (i.e. SAP, Costpoint, Team Center)
  • Lean Six Sigma and continuous improvement tools.

 

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in Massachusetts areas is [$72,000 MIN - $133,500 MAX]. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
