Job Description:
The Lead Fabrication Welder will be responsible for performing Tig and Mig welding processes (Aluminum, Steel and Stainless), lead and supervise other welders. The ideal candidate will be proficient in both TIG (GTAW) and MIG (GMAW) welding processes, capable of working with aluminum, steel, and stainless steel. This role requires the ability to read and interpret tight tolerance drawings and perform fixturing and setup of parts using precision welding tables. In addition to welding, some assembly work will be required.
Essential Functions:
- Perform fixturing and setup of parts using precision welding tables and fixturing.
- Perform fabricatin shop welding and build to right tolerance specifications.
- Welding: Tig and Mig (Flux Core) welding in fabrication shop. (Aluminum, Steel, and Stainless)
- Read and Interpret Blueprints, and tight tolerance drawings.
- Knowledge of most metal types used for fabrication. (Steel, Stainless, Aluminum, Monel, k500)
- Lead and mentor a team of welders, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure high-quality work and adherence to safety standards.
- Assign tasks and oversee the work of welding team members, ensuring efficient workflow and timely completion of projects.
- Inspect completed welds to ensure they meet industry standards and project specifications, identifying and correcting any defects or inconsistencies.
- Encourage a culture of continuous learning and development within the welding team, promoting skill enhancement and career growth.
Qualifications:
- Requires fully proficient job knowledge/skills. Typically obtained through a combination of education and experience.
- High School Diploma or equivalent with six (6) years of welding and fabrication experience.
- 2 years post-secondary/associates degree with two (2) years of welding and fabrication experience.
- Possess general knowledge of workmanship to military standards
- Able to successfully pass a plate test in 3 positions.
- Must be a US Citizen.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Knowledge of most metal types used for fabrication, including steel, stainless steel, aluminum, Monel, and K500.
- Willingness to work overtime as needed.
- Familiarity with military standards and quality requirements.
