Job Description:

 

L3Harris is seeking an experienced and innovative Chief Systems Engineer to lead the technical execution of a critical network development program. The successful candidate will bring strong expertise across the System Development Lifecycle, technical refresh, and operations and maintenance phases.

This role requires deep knowledge of network system architecture, system-of-systems integration, telecommunications, OSS/BSS tools, and security engineering. The ideal candidate will have experience leading requirements development and management, conducting design reviews, and conducting technical discussions with customers and internal stakeholders. This individual will provide engineering leadership across the full program lifecycle, ensuring successful technical execution and delivery of scalable, reliable, and cost-effective solutions.

 

  • Develop and maintain the network system architecture to ensure robust, scalable, and high-performing designs
  • Define and manage system requirements, ensuring traceability, verification, and validation
  • Provide clear technical direction to engineering teams to align architecture and design with program objectives
  • Establish technical baseline, conduct design reviews and support progression through key development milestones
  • Lead technical interchange meetings with customers, partners, and internal stakeholders
  • Oversee engineering execution to achieve performance, reliability, maintainability, and quality goals
  • Mentor engineering teams across multiple disciplines
  • Partner with engineering and program leadership to support execution and new business initiatives
  • Drive initiatives to improve engineering productivity, quality, reuse, affordability and technical performance
  • Apply L3Harris engineering processes for design and maintenance activities
  • Support ECPs and new business initiatives in accordance with the L3Harris Business Acquisition Process
  • Ensure engineering execution aligns with industry standards, organizational processes, and program requirements
  • Monitor and optimize system performance across development, integration, sustainment, and technical refresh
  • Support project engineering and control account management activities
  • Own and manage the technical baseline, including configuration management, risk management, and issue resolution

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field with a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience, or
  • Masters degree in STEM field with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, or
  • 13 years of related experience in lieu of a degree

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant certifications in systems engineering or program leadership
  • Strong technical management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Familiarity with regulatory and compliance standards for complex ANSP systems
  • Experience with large-scale system integration and cross-functional engineering coordination
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present technical information to internal and external audiences
