Job Description:

ForceX is seeking an engineer to deliver mission-focused technical solutions from concept through deployment and sustainment. The role partners across disciplines to translate requirements into executable designs that meet performance, cost, and schedule objectives. The Mechanical Engineer designs, analyzes, and develops mechanical or electro-mechanical solutions supporting the VAMPIRE Counter-UAS product line. The role supports concept-to-production execution with focus on reliability, manufacturability, and program outcomes. This level is a senior professional role with strong job-area knowledge and broad project management awareness.

Essential Functions:

- Own development and delivery of mechanical design documentation for mission system and mechanical integration hardware.

- Develop packaging approaches that support performance, assembly, access, and integration needs.

- Perform structural design work for brackets, housings, mounts, and other load-bearing hardware.

- Coordinate vehicle integration tasks with systems, electrical, manufacturing, and test stakeholders.

- Prepare technical content for design reviews and engineering assessments.

- Evaluate design trades involving mass, packaging, interfaces, manufacturability, and structural performance.

- Lead mechanical engineering activities to support prototype design, built, and test efforts.

- Document mechanical design decisions and release-ready engineering artifacts.

- Execute engineering work products from requirements through verification and technical documentation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate hardware, software, and operational constraints into practical solutions.
- Conduct technical analysis, risk identification, and trade studies to support design decisions.
- Present technical status, issues, and recommendations in formal and informal reviews.
- Contribute to proposal, planning, and execution activities aligned to program milestones.
- Support compliance with customer, regulatory, and security requirements.
- Travel up to 25% to support integration, test, customer engagement, and program execution.
- Support work performed in a classified and or controlled environment.
- Design, layout, test, and evaluate mechanical and electro-mechanical devices or subsystems.
- Perform engineering calculations and analysis to validate design robustness and reliability.
- Prepare technical specifications, design documentation, and recommendation packages for review.
- Partner with electrical, systems, manufacturing, and quality teams to mature integrated designs.
- Support prototype build, test, issue resolution, and transition to production.
- Develop detailed mechanical models, layouts, and design packages supporting prototype and production release.
- Perform structural assessments to verify load paths, margins, and compliance with mechanical requirements.
- Evaluate vibration and dynamic response characteristics across development and qualification activities.
- Conduct stress and fatigue evaluations to support durability, life predictions, and design refinement.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
- 6+ years of experience in mechanical design and analysis for complex products.
- 6+ years of experience interpreting customer technical requirements and translating them into implementable design artifacts.
- 6+ years of experience with material, component, and process selection decisions.

Preferred Additional Skills:

- Bachelor of Science in a STEM discipline preferred; Engineering preferred, Physics, Mathematics, and Computer Science acceptable.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in cross-functional engineering teams.
- Experience with environmental and qualification testing, for example MIL-STD-810.
- Experience with design-for-manufacture and design-for-assembly practices.
- Experience in root-cause analysis and corrective-action implementation.
- Experience with mechanical modeling and design workflows for complex assemblies, cabling and harnesses, and packaging constraints in Creo 10.
- Experience with structural analysis methods and interpretation of stress and deflection results.
- Experience with dynamic analysis, vibration environments, and modal response interpretation.
- Experience with stress and fatigue assessment methods and life-cycle durability trade studies.
- Role scope expectation: Manages complex projects or processes with general oversight and delivers moderate-to-substantial process and system improvements.
- Collaboration expectation: Works within and outside the function to gain cooperation on operational practices and execution decisions.

- Experience with packaging design for dense electro-mechanical systems.

- Experience with structural analysis and design margin assessment.

- Experience supporting hardware integration and qualification activities.

- Familiarity with vehicle interfaces and system-level integration constraints.

- Experience conducting or supporting technical trade studies.
