Job Summary:
The Lead, Field Engineer, Products acts as our company’s field representative at critical and highly sensitive base and remote locations, including customer and supplier facilities. This vital role supports hardware and software installation, as well as configuration and troubleshooting on complex integrated network systems. The Field Engineer, Products supports regular, special, and integrated system test programs, including scenario-based testing, developmental testing (DT) and operational testing (OT) at company and customer locations. The Field Engineer, Products is a Subject Matter Expert (SME) representing customer requirements in L3Harris ForceX’s Agile/Scrum software development cycle and constantly maintains ForceX’s exceptional reputation through positive customer interaction. The Lead, Field Engineer, Products is a highly skilled and experienced individual contributor working autonomously and on complex assignments to achieve operational targets, which have a significant impact on the overall achievement of results for the team.
Essential Functions: This FSE will support the Products division in multiple roles:
1) Act as the company's FSE at critical and highly sensitive base or remote/austere locations, including customer and supplier facilities.
2) Support hardware and software installation, configuration and troubleshooting on complex integrated network systems.
3) Support regular, special and integrated system test programs, including scenario-based testing, developmental testing (DT) and operational testing (OT) at company and customer locations.
4) Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) representing customer requirements in L3 ForceX’s Agile/Scrum software development cycle.
5) Prepare and conduct training and business development presentations pertinent to company products and services.
6) Support future business development by providing ground and flight demonstration support to partner companies and potential customers.
7) Will be on the road regularly supporting installations, training, and demos for multiple programs, products and future business ventures.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience.
- Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience.
- In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
- Advanced knowledge of standard systems architecture
- Advanced knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming
- Advanced knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques and procedures to the design and production of company products
- Advanced knowledge of the real-world, tactical applications of L3Harris ForceX products
- Ability to troubleshoot system problems to LRU (Line Replaceable Unit)
- Ability to creatively evaluate the appropriate actions and procedures to resolve operator issues
- Demonstrated ability to rapidly learn, apply and communicate technical information on a variety of new software applications and hardware systems
- Ability to translate customer requirements into workable development tasks
- Ability to assist in the development of test cases to properly validate software features
- Ability to build positive, lasting relationships with both customers and software development teams
- Demonstrated ability to operate independently, proactively ensuring customer satisfaction and compliance with applicable regulations and norms
- Ability to travel up to 50% (20-25% expected), often on short notice, including occasional OCONUS trips
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Holder of a Department of Defense Security Clearance (or ability to obtain one) required
- Holder of a FAA Class III or higher Flight Medical clearance (or the ability to pass one) required
- Two (2) or more years of experience troubleshooting technical and/or software products required
- One to three (1-3) years of full-time experience directly related to developing education and training programs for technical and/or software products strongly preferred
- Appropriate technology industry certifications such as CompTIA’s A+/Network+/Security+/Server+, Cisco CCNA/CCDA, Microsoft MTA/MCSA, etc. strongly preferred
- Experience as a Department of Defense Instructor/Evaluator strongly preferred
