Job Description:
Position reports directly to the ForceX Director of Business Development (BD). The BD Lead is a subject matter expert with comprehensive knowledge of the ForceX mission software and product job area and has in-depth knowledge of project management. Manages large, complex project initiatives of substantial importance to the organization with minimal oversight or direction. Communicates within and outside of the organization to explain and influence changes to practices, processes and approaches. Makes significant improvements in processes, systems, or products. Provides input into new products/processes and implements operational plans that have measurable impact on business or functional results.
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Business Development Lead to join our ForceX business area, focusing on expanding our footprint in mission software, mission kits and related products markets. The ideal candidate will excel at interfacing with US DoD, International MoD, and intermidiate prime customers, building strong relationships, and leveraging these connections to foster new business opportunities. This role is crucial for developing and nurturing strategic relationships with new customers, with a focus on delivering capabilities for airborne and ground manned and autonomous combat platforms. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a comprehensive understanding of the US DoD and Intrnational ISR and strike markets and programs, initiatives, and a strong track record in securing high-value contracts.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Establish and maintain robust relationships with customer stakeholders, understanding their needs and aligning our offerings to their strategic objectives.
- Lead the pursuit of new business opportunities within the mission software and related products domains, guiding capture teams through the entire acquisition cycle from opportunity identification to contract award.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for mission s/w and related products customers, ensuring their requirements are met and that L3Harris is positioned as a preferred partner.
- Conduct in-depth market analysis to identify and develop new business opportunities, including follow-on and adjacent market prospects.
- Collaborate with program management, engineering, and other functional teams to develop tailored solutions that address the unique challenges of ground combat and autonomous systems.
- Expand our market presence through tailored business development strategies, staying informed on market trends, competitive landscapes, and emerging opportunities.
- Actively participate in strategic planning sessions, workshops, and reviews (e.g., Black Hat, Blue Team, Price to Win) to refine win strategies and competitive positioning.
- Negotiate teaming agreements and form strategic alliances to enhance our market position.
- Translate complex technical information into compelling value propositions for customer engagement and communication.
- Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement, acting as a change agent to implement new strategies and technologies that enhance business development efforts.
- Support the business rhythm through regular reporting and updates, maintaining a clear view of progress and challenges.
- Establish and maintain relationships within our customer domains
- Track all upcoming opportunities through all available tools (e.g. CRM) and Capture/BD staff
- Coordinate with Sector leadership for collection and representation of data related to the Strategic Plan and Priority Pursuits
- Support Sector reporting and reviews (e.g., Quarterly Pipeline Reviews, Business Reviews, Annual Strategic Plan, Weekly Opportunity Reports, Weekly Pursuit reviews, etc.).
- Complete ad-hoc projects and reporting as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
- 8+ years of buisiness development/strategic planning/program management or business experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Analytical mindset with skills gathering data from multiple, often disparate, qualitative and quantitative sources and synthesizing it into meaningful reports and presentations
- Expert communicator in all media
- Experience with the Microsoft Office Suite, to include exceptional skills in PowerPoint and Excel
- Strong understanding of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS), and other Transaction Authority (OTA) contracting mechanisms, as well as International methodologies
- At least five years of experience in developing and implementing solutions for complex challenges within the DoD
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and persuade at all levels of an organization
- Willingness to travel as required to meet business objectives and customer needs
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously; possesses strong organization and prioritization skills.
- Working knowledge of defense, aerospace, intelligence, and adjacent markets
- Comfortable working in a high volume, fast-paced, rapidly changing, results-oriented work environment
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills (written and presentation) and an exquisite attention to detail
- Team oriented with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Experience with CRM tools such as Microsoft Dynamics
