Essential Functions:

 

The candidate will lead the design, development, integration, and testing of complex avionics systems for military and commercial aircraft. Translate customer requirements into system-level specifications, oversee subcontractor deliverables, and perform advanced engineering trade studies to establish preliminary system designs. Review and approve electrical wiring diagrams, ensure compliance with airworthiness regulations, prepare and deliver technical presentations to non-technical audiences and government customers, and mentor junior engineers while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

 

  • Lead technical planning, system integration, verification and validation for avionics systems across their lifecycle;
  • Translate customer requests into system-level requirements and write subsystem specifications;
  • Conduct engineering trade studies and evaluate alternative solutions;
  • Review electrical wiring diagrams and ensure compliance with system requirements;
  • Integrate and test avionics and military systems on airborne platforms;
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations to diverse audiences;
  • Develop and implement software and system test plans in a collaborative environment;
  • Ensure adherence to airworthiness regulations and security standards while managing subcontractor relationships.

 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Avionics or Systems Engineering (or equivalent);
  • Minimum 7 years of relevant avionics systems experience;
  • Extensive experience with military avionics systems, sensors, radio-navigation, and inter-communication systems;
  • Knowledge of airworthiness regulations (FAR23/FAR25) and standards (ARINC 429, MIL-STD-1553, DO-178, DO-254);
  • Excellent written and oral communication, ability to manage subcontractors and government customers;
  • Experience with optical sensor systems, integration, and ground/flight test support;
  • Knowledge of CATIA V5 and ePlan P8 is an asset;
  • Knowledge of ISO/IEC 15288:2008 is a major asset;
  • Knowledge of MBSE SysML is a major asset;
  • Strong Communication skills.

 

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must be eligible for registration with the Controlled Goods Program;
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a government of Canada Reliability status and Secret Level 2/NATO Secret security clearance;
  • Must be eligible to meet the requirements for U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
