Ensure the analysis and validation of aircraft structures for both commercial projects (new product development, missionization, system integration) and military programs (maintaining operational availability, repairs, and airworthiness compliance). The incumbent will work closely with other engineering teams and program managers to ensure conformity with performance, safety, and cost requirements.
Essential Functions:
- Read and interpret manufacturing and modification drawings;
- Perform strength analyses (classical methods and finite element analysis) on metallic and composite materials, including fatigue and damage tolerance;
- Apply safety factors and aerospace design standards;
- Analyze structural damage on aircraft (CF 18, CT 114) and propose repairs that meet airworthiness requirements;
- Validate design criteria for in-service repairs and configuration modifications;
- Collaborate with fleet management teams to plan interventions and ensure operational availability;
- Document analyses, assumptions, and results in technical reports;
- Meet project deadlines and budget requirements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s student in mechanical or aeronautical engineering who has completed a minimum of two (2) years of study;
- Proficiency in one or more of the following software: NASTRAN, PATRAN, or other finite element tools, plus CatiaV6, WORD and EXCEL;
- Ability to read technical drawings;
- Bilingualism required (French and English), with the ability to write technical reports in English;
- Ability to work effectively in teams and within multidisciplinary groups;
- Strong task prioritization in demanding environments and adherence to tight deadlines;
- Analytical mindset, resourcefulness, and commitment to customer satisfaction;
- Strong interest in material strength and structural mechanics.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Must be eligible for registration with the Controlled Goods Program;
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a government of Canada Reliability status and Secret Level 2/NATO Secret security clearance;
- Must be eligible to meet the requirements for U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
