About your next challenge as Junior Buyer :
Reporting to the Procurement Manager, the Buyer is part of the procurement team mandated to plan and implement activities related to the procurement of goods and services. The Buyer is an experienced professional with proficient knowledge of job area and practical knowledge of project management. May manage projects or processes with general supervision.
What you will do:
- Follow up on all contracts/purchase orders through completion of order;
- Negotiates with suppliers and analyzes suppliers operations to determine factors that affect prices and determines the lowest cost taking into account quality, reliability and ability to meet required schedules;
- Reviews proposals, negotiates prices, selects or recommends suppliers, analyzes trends, and maintains necessary records;
- Prepare request for proposals (RFP) and bid packages;
- Negotiates and settles with suppliers regarding damage claims, rejections, losses, return of materials, over-shipments, cancellations and engineering changes;
- Follows applicable anti-corruption ethics, laws, trade compliance and regulations.
- Communicates with contacts inside and outside of own department to explain and interpret operational processes, practices, and procedures;
- Recommends enhancements to systems and processes;
- Works to achieve operational targets for specific programs and projects with moderate impact on departmental results.
Required Skills and Experiences:
- Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 2 years of relevant procurement experience;
- Proficient knowledge in procurement required;
- Proficient knowledge of negotiations and contracts;
- Practical knowledge of project management an asset;
- Teamwork, Initiative, Adaptability and customer service skills;
- Experience with In-Service Support of aircrafts an asset;
- Experience with MRP software, SAP or RAMCO an asset;
- Very good knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite;
- Excellent communication skills in English and French (oral and written).
Eligibility Criteria:
- Must be eligible for registration with the Controlled Goods Program;
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a government of Canada Reliability status and Secret Level 2/NATO Secret security clearance;
- Must be eligible to meet the requirements for U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
