The Systems Engineering Scientist will be a leader in our fast-paced growing environment supporting new business capture by developing innovative acoustic solutions. S/he will be responsible for significant customer interactions to help define and develop best-in-class solutions to meet their needs.  Additionally, the Scientist will be responsible for defining and driving the technical direction of prospective business opportunities, developing system architectures, providing leadership for proposals and strategic pursuits, as well as having significant input to shape the investments of the business.  The Scientist will also assess market level technology trends as well as capabilities of complementary solutions enabling larger scale solution offerings. The Scientist will have all the necessary support, scope and resources, to have a direct impact on the growth of our business. 

Essential Functions:

  • Exceptional leadership experience with Systems Engineering and Model Based Systems Engineering
  • Exceptional leadership skills including the ability to make strategic and tactical decisions
  • Extensive experience working closely with customers to identify solutions
  • Extensive experience in developing and executing strategic technology roadmaps to develop new business opportunities
  • Extensive experience working with Capture Management and Business Development to be the liaison between new customer program capture and Engineering
  • Proven ability to lead teams to develop Maritime system architectures of varying complexity
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills; works with others to coordinate efforts, resolve cross-team issues and effectively communicate changes
  • Demonstrated experience in leading a team to design subsurface acoustic systems
  • Experience with cloud-based computing solutions such as AWS and IC ITE
  • Demonstrated experience in system design, integration of communication networks and Sensor Systems 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 12 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 16 years of prior related experience.
  • Minimum of 12+ years of experience in Systems Engineering/Architect position on Maritime’s programs
  • Ability to obtain and maintain US DoD SECRET Clearance which requires US Citizenship
  • Experience with all aspects of Systems Engineering, Integration & Test (SEIT) and product development best practices and their applications given program needs.
  • Experience in identifying and driving continuous improvement activities within the system engineering domain and applications given program needs.
  • Experience leading teams for 5+ years of 5+ engineers, managing their efforts including budget and scheduling of activities
  • Experience in managing technical programs and facilitating team activities.
  • Experience in integrated product teams.
  • Experience in creating and successfully executing against the SE BoEs.
  • Ability to coach, mentor and build relationships
  • Ability to travel 15% of time

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Familiarity with the military/defense contracting environment.
  • Familiarity with underwater products and acoustics
  • Proposal management experience.
  • Proven ability to develop and foster relationships with other organizational leaders that drive a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Exceptional track record in technical team management, developing organizational capability and recruiting/growing key talents.
  • Ability to analyze the assigned project, break down work into functional disciplines and plan out a means for the work to be accomplished.
  • Outstanding written communication skills. 
  • Excellent verbal communication skills for internal and customer presentations.
  • Solid practical organization, facilitation, and arbitration skills

 

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in Maryland is $153,000- $284,000 . This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
