Job Description:
We are looking for a highly skilled and innovative engineer with deep expertise in signal processing, signal detection, statistical inference, and AI/ML algorithm and model development. The successful candidate will be proactive, collaborative, and able to deliver reliable, cutting-edge solutions in a fast-paced environment while working onsite with the customer.
Essential Functions:
- Technical Leadership: Provide expert guidance in signal processing and machine learning based detection and discovery for both new mission concepts and the existing AI Accelerator Lab at the Air Force Technical Applications Center (AFTAC).
- On Site Collaboration: Work co-located with the customer at AFTAC, Patrick Space Force Base, Melbourne, FL.
- Sensor Data Integration: Lead the incorporation of new sensor streams into emerging mission capabilities, ensuring alignment with customer objectives and technical standards.
- Customer Facing Representation: Act as a positive, solutions-driven liaison for L3Harris, reinforcing our reputation as a responsive, dependable, and collaborative partner. Build strong, professional relationships with government personnel, contractors, and industry partners.
- Mission Leadership: Direct the Central Park program mission, mentoring a cross-functional team that includes software engineers, cloud developers, cybersecurity specialists, and systems engineers.
- Program Support: Assist AFTAC leadership with mission development activities such as organizing Integrated Product Team (IPT) meetings, drafting roadmaps, defining milestones, and tracking progress against objectives.
- Technical Expertise: Proven record of academic and practical success applied to mission‑critical solutions. Leadership in managing complex projects, systems integration, and cyber‑hardening. Advanced techniques in AI/ML for reliable prediction, inference, robust model development. Ability to apply statistical data analysis to sensor and signal processing data sets.
- Leadership & Communication skills: Demonstrated ability to mentor teams, coordinate IPTs, and communicate effectively with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with 6 years software experience or Master’s/Ph.D. with 4 years software experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior software experience.
- Secret or Top Secret or TS/SCI Clearance.
- 6-10 years Linux development background including kernel configuration, device drivers, SELinux, secure boot. Proficient in Python development within Linux environments.
- Experience developing ML algorithms for signal‑processing applications.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Ability to applying advanced statistical and mathematical modeling to real-world problems.
- Specialization in development of predictive algorithms and models for classification, prediction, and robustness in noisy/multi-environment settings across diverse datasets and noisy conditions.
- Expertise in invariant causal prediction, subsampling methods, and causal discovery on discrete data.
