Job Description:

L3Harris is seeking a Sustainment Systems Engineer to support our Voice Switching & Control System (VSCS) program.  The Engineer will be responsible for the selection and procurement of electrical components and COTS hardware in support of VSCS Technical Refresh projects.  Additionally, this employee will be expected to communicate with the FAA customer on a regular basis, ensuring customer satisfaction is maximized.

Essential Functions:

• Analyzing hardware lifecycle, ensuring sustainability, and planning for obsolescence or upgrades.
• Providing technical documentation services as required for procurement and engineering control of purchased items.
• Providing technical support to procurement and engineering in the resolution of parts related problems.
• Supporting the Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages (DMSMS) Team for the program.
• Recommending alternate parts to replace parts that are obsolete and/or no longer available.
• Generating Engineering Charge Orders (ECOs).
• Communicating with vendors and customers to resolve issues.
  
  

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree or equivalent with 0 to 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, there is a minimum of 6 years of prior related experience.
• Currently possess an FAA Public Trust Clearence or ability to obtain one.
  
  

Preferred Additional Skills:

• Knowledge of large-scale ATC telecommunication systems.
• Knowledge of sustaining engineering experience on large-scale systems consisting of telecommunications infrastructure and/or data distribution capabilities.
• Familiarity with Silicon Expert for BOM grading and BOM Watch.
• Excellent oral and written communications skills along with the ability to work independently or in a team environment is a plus.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate complex technical information and make informed decisions.
