Job Description:

L3Harris is seeking a Windows Systems Administrator to join the IT Infrastructure & Operations team in Melbourne, Florida. This position supports a Microsoft-based enterprise environment and is responsible for day-to-day administration, sustainment, and operational support of Windows domain services, Windows server infrastructure, virtual platforms, and end-user compute systems. The selected candidate will be expected to work within established engineering, cybersecurity, and operational processes while supporting system availability, compliance, and mission execution.

This role interfaces routinely with infrastructure, cybersecurity, application, and program stakeholders to resolve operational issues, execute approved changes, and maintain secure and supportable Windows-based services. The ideal candidate is comfortable owning technical tasks through completion, troubleshooting across interconnected systems, and operating effectively in a controlled production environment.

• This position is onsite in Melbourne, Florida; remote work is not available.
• Candidates must be able to participate in an on-call rotation, including onsite response within one hour when required by the program.
• Ability to support off-hours and weekend work as needed for maintenance activities, projects, and operational issues.
• This position may require travel to a disaster recovery site as needed.
• Ability to obtain and maintain the required security clearance.

Essential Functions:

• Administer and support Microsoft Active Directory Domain Services, including user and computer objects, security groups, organizational units, delegated administration, domain joins, and account lifecycle activities.
• Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Group Policy Objects to enforce security posture, standardized system configuration, and user and computer settings across the enterprise domain.
• Support core Microsoft infrastructure services, including DNS, DHCP, Active Directory Sites and Services, domain controller operations, replication health, and authentication-related troubleshooting.
• Build, configure, patch, harden, and maintain physical and virtual Windows Server systems in accordance with approved baselines, security requirements, and operational standards.
• Support Windows desktop operating systems and enterprise workstations, including provisioning, software installation, troubleshooting, and compliance with program and organizational requirements.
• Support virtual infrastructure technologies such as VMware vSphere, including provisioning and maintenance of Windows-based virtual compute environments.
• Execute operating system patching, vulnerability remediation, and compliance-related changes for Windows servers and endpoints in accordance with approved maintenance windows, change control processes, and service requirements.
• Support STIG hardening activities for Windows systems, including implementation and sustainment of secure baseline configurations, remediation of audit findings, and validation of required settings.
• Support Microsoft endpoint and update management services, including SCCM and WSUS, for software deployment, patch distribution, update compliance, client health, and routine systems maintenance.
• Administer and support Microsoft PKI and certificate services, including certificate enrollment, renewal, revocation, distribution, and troubleshooting for domain-connected systems and applications.
• Troubleshoot system, authentication, policy, performance, and connectivity issues across Microsoft domain-connected systems and coordinate resolution with peer teams, vendors, or application owners as required.
• Create and maintain PowerShell scripts, standard operating procedures, and technical documentation to improve operational consistency, automation, and sustainment.
• Support backup, recovery, and disaster recovery activities for Windows systems and related infrastructure.
• Support incident response, service requests, outage restoration, and change management activities using established ticketing, escalation, and operational processes.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience. 
• Hands-on experience administering Windows Server environments in an enterprise domain.
• Experience supporting Microsoft Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP in a production environment.
• Experience with server patching, system hardening, vulnerability remediation, and compliance-driven maintenance activities.

Preferred Additional Skills:

• Experience supporting STIG hardening, secure configuration baselines, or comparable compliance requirements in Windows environments.
• Experience troubleshooting Windows server, workstation, policy, and authentication-related issues in an operational environment.
• Experience supporting VMware vSphere or comparable virtualization platforms.
• Experience supporting SCCM, WSUS, or similar Microsoft systems management and patching platforms.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft PKI, certificate lifecycle management, or Active Directory Certificate Services.
• Working knowledge of PowerShell for system administration, task automation, and repeatable operational support.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to document technical procedures, changes, and support actions clearly.
